Originating from Hull QC, Canada, and now a Wakefield local, J. Alexander is an artist whose music effortlessly crosses the boundaries of genre.

His journey into music began with classical piano, providing a solid foundation that would later expand into an exploration of the guitar at age 12. J. Alexander’s evolution as a musician saw him embracing the emotive depths of blues and the vigorous spirit of rock, which he has woven into his unique musical tapestry. His dedication to the guitar has not only honed his technique but has also allowed him to develop a signature style where expressive solos fuse blues, rock, and a whisper of jazz.

His performances are a testament to his belief in music’s power to connect and convey the unspoken, making each note resonate with purpose and passion.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕:
Things/Matter is a new performance by Elizabeth Logue, evolving directly from her earlier work “Keep Mars Red.” Deeply rooted in themes of belonging, ancestry, colonization, and the living consequences we carry within us, the piece explores what it means to inherit both place and history.

“We Depend on You” presents four wonderful videos inspired by animals that rely on the river. Created in collaboration with students from Wakefield Primary School, Jean Grand-Maître, Nathalie Coutou, Nadia Ross, and Anachnid. Featuring an exquisite live performance by Anachnid — an Oji-Cree multidisciplinary musician and songwriter.

“The Chair” - A video documenting the creation of a unique chair that has become a permanent installation in the municipal council chamber. Guided by members of the Green Project and built by youth, the chair serves as a dedicated space for children and young people to speak their minds and actively participate in municipal affairs.

Originaire de Hull (Québec), au Canada, et désormais installé à Wakefield, J. Alexander est un artiste dont la musique transcende sans effort les frontières des genres.

Son parcours musical a débuté par le piano classique, lui fournissant une base solide qui s’est ensuite élargie à l’exploration de la guitare à l’âge de 12 ans. L’évolution de J. Alexander en tant que musicien l’a amené à embrasser la profondeur émotionnelle du blues et l’esprit vigoureux du rock, qu’il a tissés dans sa trame musicale unique. Son dévouement à la guitare lui a non seulement permis d’affiner sa technique, mais aussi de développer un style caractéristique où des solos expressifs fusionnent le blues, le rock et une touche de jazz.
