This picture hits me in a way that’s hard to explain.
My sister sent me this photo of my mom, my dad, and my older sister Lisa before I was even born. Seeing them this young, together, and in their prime is powerful.
My dad passed away when I was only three years old, so I don’t really have memories of him… only stories, pictures, and the name he left me with. I carry his first name and last name as a junior, and sometimes that weight is hard to explain.
This picture feels bittersweet to me.
Beautiful, painful, meaningful… all at the same time.
It makes me wonder who he was in this moment, what they were dreaming about, and what life felt like before time changed everything.
But more than anything, I’m grateful for this picture.
Grateful for where I come from.
Grateful for the blood, the history, and the memories I never got to fully have but still somehow carry with me every day.
Today for Mother’s Day, my brother and I took our mom out for breakfast and just enjoyed the day with her.
Sometimes it’s the simple moments that hit the hardest — sitting there as her two boys, laughing, talking, and appreciating the woman that helped shape us.
I’m beyond thankful for my mother. Through every season of life, every lesson, every sacrifice, and every moment she gave us, I see it more now than ever.
The past helped build us, but today was about being present, appreciating the moment, and enjoying life with her while we can.

Came out to @analiliasriquezas on Cinco de Mayo wanting to try something different. Originally came for the birria, but they were sold out. Ended up switching it up and got the pastor tacos birria style… and honestly, that was the money shot.
The tacos were excellent—great flavor, not overly greasy, and the cheese was on point. Pastor was cooked right, salsa was really good, and the rice and beans were solid too.
The spot itself is low key, clean, and simple—not overdone—but the food definitely makes up for it.
Glad we checked it out. Definitely a spot worth trying if you’re in the area.
