Thank you Kate, for so deeply engaging with my work in a way that sheds new light on so many of its topics, all of which remain increasingly relevant.

Farrington also does a deep dive into Theaster Gates @theastergates project 12 Ballads for Huguenot House, which I had the pleasure to be a part of. So much to chew on in this beautiful book.

One of the tantalizing questions in the chapter on shared authorship: “how can myriad elements of the world as well as people be considered as ‘authors’ of an artwork that do not experience the event as art?”

Objects can be full of love, and sadness, and suffering, and complexity, and hope… it’s all in there. Because the students were all proficient I got to make a couple things myself out of a leaky aluminum canoe, a sheet of acrylic, a plastic bucket and some cedar.
