In some way, this is the story of a truly unique and underground musical movement. And like many mixes, this one started in a second hand’s record shop bin nearly three years ago. That discovery pulled me into the orbit of a sound tied to the last generation of Andalusian breakbeat DJs from 2000s.

At first, I thought I could capture the essence of this scene in one mix. But the thread turned into a whole spool. I slowly began to understand the scale of it all: the sheer amount of material, the independence, the DIY energy, the uniqueness of the sound. What started small grew fast to a 4hour mixtape.

This mix is a tribute to a somewhat forgotten chapter of electronic music in Spain — a sound that merged trance, makina, electro, UK hardcore, and breaks into something euphoric, raw, and deeply local.

Last September, I had the pleasure of playing twice at @davep_makingtime festival in Philly, @makingtimeisrad. As many of you know, Dave has been working hard to create something truly special at Fort Mifflin — and for me, it’s now one of the best, most personal, and familiar festivals in the U.S.

Dave and the entire crew who make the festival possible are an amazing team and I’m honored to have been a small part of it since the very beginning.

This recording is from my Saturday night closing set under the tent, with the incredible trippy visuals by @klipcollective. I truly enjoyed playing this transcendental closing set — it was a beautiful moment.

Some days ago Pia, John, and I went to drop off some flowers at David Lynch’s favorite coffee spot here in L.A., Big Bob.

It had been raining a lot the previous nights, and it felt like nature was starting to heal after the terrible fires L.A. faced just a few weeks ago.

We sat at one of the tables facing the road, ordered breakfast and milkshakes, and talked about our favorite movies of him. I had a vanilla coffee while imagining David sitting there and it felt like being in one of his shots.

We just wanted to thank him for all the art he shared with the world and leave some flowers after the rain as a small personal tribute to a creative figure and a voice we felt necessary in these days.

We just wanted to thank him for all the art he shared with the world and leave some flowers after the rain as a small personal tribute to a creative figure and a voice we felt necessary in these days.

Durant uns anys vam ser millors amics i ens vam veure quasi cada dia. Moto amunt i moto avall per Barcelona,
tu em vas ensenyar moltíssim del que encara avui sé de música. Vaig passar estius sencers a casa teva aprenent amb tu i la teva ecler vermella el què era mesclar vinils. Vam entrar junts de residents al lolita fent les festes dance reaction i malgrat érem nens apolo, aprenents de Fra i cia, vam agafar aquella oportunitat del Gabi per fer el que més ens agradava. Van ser anys increïbles, factor city, creamfields, primaveras i summercases. D’anar al moog molts dimecres a veure djs que ens encantaven i aprendre mescles de l’Omar o acompanyar al Zero com a fanboys a qualsevol gig passant prèviament sempre pel nostre adorat pei-mong
Vas ser un superbon amic però també una espècie de germà gran, malgrat ens portàvem mesos. Em fa tanta pena escriure aquestes paraules, però vull que la gent sàpiga que vas deixar una empremta inesborrable a la meva vida i en la meva sensibilitat musical i, per tant, en tot el que he fet després d’alguna manera. Perquè ningú neix amb el coneixement ni el gust de manera innata sinó que es necessita gent com tu pel camí que te la regali, que et doni aquest tresor, sense egos ni rancúnies, com vas fer tu amb mi. I sento que no t’ho vaig agrair prou. Vam parlar no fa tant un dia que vaig anar a discos paradiso i vaig trobar alguns discos teus de segona mà. No vaig necessitar que ningú em digués que eren teus, els vaig reconèixer al moment i quan em van preguntar com ho sabia els vaig dir: perquè jo vaig aprendre a punxar amb aquests discos, amb els teus discos, perquè jo no en tenia prou en aquell moment i me’ls deixaves usar. I et vaig escriure des de la tenda i et vaig dir que els anava a comprar. Et va fer molta il·lusió i et vaig dir que si algun dia els volies de tornada o venir-los a escoltar altre cop, estaven a casa per a quant volguessis. I vam parlar de veure’ns. I vam parlar de quedar algun dia i de pujar per passar un dia escoltant música amb tu i Pol. I mai vaig ho vaig fer. I em sap tan tan greu de no haver pujat mai al final.

5 años cerrando ese escenario han sido un regalo. Gracias a todas las personas que habéis estado en algun momento de estos años.
Este ha sido el último. Me siento super privilegiado de haber sido el encargado de hacerlo todos estos años. Mucho. Ahora otras personaas seran las encargadas de hacerlo y de disfrutar de ese slot mágico en medio del bosque.
Ha sido super bonito ver como desde el proyecto inicial hasta hoy, Basoa y Lasai se han convertido en partes muy disfrutadas y queridas del festival.
Solo me queda agradecer a todo el equipo del @bilbaobbklive y en especial a mi admiradísimo @marcventosa que es el que ha querido que estuviera ahí todos estos años. ♥️
Me llevo mil recuerdos de estos años. Pero mi último recuerdo de basoa será esta foto que tomé antes de bajarme del escenario.

This has been the last one. I feel super privileged to have been in charge of doing it all these years. A lot. Now other people will be in charge of doing it and enjoying that magical slot in the middle of the forest.
It has been super nice to see how from the initial project until today, Basoa and Lasai have become very enjoyed and loved parts of the festival.
I just have to thank the entire @bilbaobbklive team and especially my very admired @marcventosa who is the one who wanted me to be there all these years. ♥️

My last Basoa :(

5 years closing that stage have been a gift. Thanks to all the people who have been at some point in these years.
This has been the last one. I feel super privileged to have been in charge of doing it all these years. A lot. Now other people will be in charge of doing it and enjoying that magical slot in the middle of the forest.
It has been super nice to see how from the initial project until today, Basoa and Lasai have become very enjoyed and loved parts of the festival.
I just have to thank the entire @bilbaobbklive team and especially my very admired @marcventosa who is the one who wanted me to be there all these years. ♥️
My last memory will be this photo that I took before lesving the stage.
For many more years of dancing in the middle of the forest.

5 años cerrando ese escenario han sido un regalo. Gracias a todas las personas que habéis estado en algun momento de estos años.
Este ha sido el último. Me siento super privilegiado de haber sido el encargado de hacerlo todos estos años. Mucho. Ahora otras personaas seran las encargadas de hacerlo y de disfrutar de ese slot mágico en medio del bosque.
Ha sido super bonito ver como desde el proyecto inicial hasta hoy, Basoa y Lasai se han convertido en partes muy disfrutadas y queridas del festival.

@hiverndiscs at @primavera_sound curated stage lineup. It’s a special one and we are very happy how it ended. Unreal! 🥲Really happy to host this amazing artists, people we really admire for their work.
@originalphew007 , @studio.robert.henke @channelonesoundsystem @djfartintheclub and @woodyninetytwo in closing duties who’s also our art director for @pensamentssonics.

It took me a few minutes to find the last song I wanted to play on my USB. An edit that I had rendered, named and left it in a folder minutes before going to the club. But just at the moment to play it out I had completely forgotten the name or the location of it 🥵After a long search in the cdjs with a loop on the other channel, somehow the first word in the file came to my mind: Sunrise🌅

No videos or photos were taken from any moment from last morning, only blurry memories😅 but I thought it could be a nice thing to share.
In my bio you can find the link to the edit. It will be available for few days in WT.It’s like my small contribution to De School closing celebration.🥂

Thanks for the special moments shared yesterday. To the team in DS and everyone who made it possible. It was incredible to share lineup with so many talented people.
