Sometimes I walk backwards for a living.
Steadicam Operator on Josephine
Local 600 ICG | SOC Associate

Beyond proud to see JOSEPHINE take home the Sundance Grand Jury & Audience Awards.
I joined the team for a few days as Steadicam Operator and got to witness firsthand how much care and intention went into every frame.
Huge congratulations to Beth de Araújo, the cast, and the entire crew and support team here in the Bay Area, what a film to be a small part of.

Follow the ball.
This shot was pure instinct — no rehearsal, just a quick walkthrough with the brilliant @belowthebar and then straight out to a roaring crowd for Doechii at Outside Lands.
She’s a comet, and my mindset was just to stay locked in, don’t look at the crowd lol, support the artist, and show the people what I’d want to see.
Huge thanks to @steadicamlessons for the mentoring, and the whole team that made this moment possible.

Movement with intention.
A collection of recent work as a steadicam operator across high-end commercials, indie films, and music videos.
Thanks to the directors and DPs who trusted me with the frame.

Spring might be the best time for a california road trip… Desert wildflowers, cold mornings, empty roads, and a little bit of everything in a one week circuit of the lower half of the state.

Okay, I might be a little late to the New Year’s party, but 2026 is a pretty special milestone for me. It marks 10 whole years since I first started out as a camera operator. If 10-years-ago Joe could see where we are now, I think he’d be pretty darn proud. 🎥✨
Next week, I’ll be celebrating a huge personal moment: a movie I worked on as a steadicam operator is premiering at Sundance! I’m sharing a little compilation of photos from the early days to now in my post. Here’s to a decade of capturing moments and to all the adventures still ahead! Thank you to every single person that’s supported me along the way!

People. Everywhere. Happy
Love this time of year and how it brings us all a little closer.
This is a collection of very belated photos I’ve meant to get to posting. A few from Egypt, more from Europe, one from China and a few back home. All shot on film even though I’ve now switched back to digital. Got a little too expensive at the moment to shoot everything on film but I still love it and miss it.

Summer time = medium format portraits.
I feel so fortunate for these lifelong friendships and my new opportunities through volunteering. Not only to experience these moments but for the trust to let me capture them.

Summer time = medium format portraits.
I feel so fortunate for these lifelong friendships and my new opportunities through volunteering. Not only to experience these moments but for the trust to let me capture them.

I’ve just come back from my first ever trip to the Middle East! I can’t wait to go back.
.
.
This trip’s genesis came from two rather random, but beautiful events. First, I made a film this summer with someone who happens to be from that part of the world and we became immediate close friends. Secondly, I had a conversation earlier this year with a Palestinian friend who challenged the fact that though I’ve been to nearly 30 countries, I’ve never spent even a day in the Arab World.
My subsequent trip there, though curated by my new close and well-connected friend, was one of the most important I’ve ever had. I grew up knowing very few Muslim people, even with how diverse the Bay Area is, so I never truly understood what their culture can be like when not consumed by extremeism or a war. On this trip to Egypt, I found my new Arab friends to be some of the warmest, most hospitable, and loving people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Their way of life is incredible; tight knit and with closer social ties than we can even imagine in the West. I also met several amazing and quite clearly liberated women, despite what western media portrays.
This is why what’s happening now is breaking my heart and forcing me to say something with this post. If it’s obnoxious you can call me an overnight activist and stop reading now. I get it. I’m not Palestinian, Muslim or Jewish, what do I know?
Jewish people are also undeniably some of the best in the world. My best friend’s mom, born in Israel and whom I still call my ‘ema’ and all of my other lifelong, practicing or not, Jewish friends are beyond a doubt some of the most thoughtful, intelligent, and kind people in the world. I would not be here professionally or personally without their support. I think the rise in antisemitism we’re seeing is incredibly troubling and something I’ve unfortunately witnessed on their behalf my whole life. It pains me that they are by far the most common victim of religious hate crimes in America.
If I know one thing that is lacking in America right now is it the ability to have a nuanced conversation. I know me throwing my hat in the ring may offend some of my Jewish friends… (cont.)
