A few recent pieces, and a little about what they mean.
1. Seahorse.
This tattoo goes back to a childhood memory. The drawing was based on a small striped seahorse toy the client once received from someone close to her.
2. Two faces.
This one is a symbol of the client and her sister. The design is abstract, but based on a photo from their childhood. I made the same tattoo for both sisters.
3. Small symbol.
This was an important sign for the client. She wanted it to feel very discreet, almost blended into the body, so it would not stand out from afar.
4. Gecko.
This is the client’s gecko. Something very close to her and connected to her passion.
5. Constellations.
This one includes the zodiac signs of people who are important to her. There are also the first letters of the names of her closest people.
I like works like these the most. Small, elegant, with their own reason.

the client came to me from switzerland.
she told me she had been following my work for a few years and finally felt like this was the moment to do these tattoos.
most of them are connected to one person close to her.
these are personal things, but she didn’t come with a finished plan. she had more of a general idea.
we started with a conversation and worked it out together.
the main issue at the beginning was placement on the body. she wasn’t sure about that.
i suggested not thinking about each tattoo separately, but treating it as one whole.
to build it into one composition that makes sense as a whole, not a collection of elements.
we arranged it so there is rhythm and balance between them.
a lot of empty space was important here. because of that nothing clashes and it doesn’t look like a draft.
it was meant to be calm and elegant, not forced.
in the end everything landed exactly where it should.
she left very happy.

It was her first tattoo.
She was nervous at the beginning, which is normal, so we took it slow and worked through it together.
I was thinking mostly about placement.
About how the tattoos would sit on her back and follow the body, instead of sitting on top of it.
The stars with a dot in the center symbolize balance.
I wanted the tattoos to feel natural on her body.
As if they had been there from the start.

My signature flower. Ultra-fine single needle, hand-drawn. The face is built into the stem.
“This sunflower symbolizes my rebirth after a difficult period in my life when there was no sunshine. It represents my wish for new dawns”.
People wear this piece in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Tokyo and across Europe.

All the words were written by hand.
Each tattoo has a personal meaning for the person who wears it.
For me, this way of working is close to therapy. Simple and human.
