Posted before, posting again, because truth.

Here’s to more adventures around the world, meeting new faces, hearing new stories, feeling new feelings.

Never not proud of you, baby. I’ll never fail to be impressed by how you always manage to turn nothing into something like some mad magician.

I can only imagine what it feels like to put a piece of work you have poured your heart and soul into out into a world that is becoming increasingly cruel and judgemental. Particularly in the world of cinema I guess, where everyone suddenly puts on their non existent film critic hat and starts spewing out irresponsible gobble. Of course everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it just feels….unrefined, resentful even. It takes some courage to face a world full of people like that. Anyway, just my own thoughts.

Some personal memories during the shoot of the film. Those icy nights shooting in Korea, my nose so messed up by the cold I was unable to smell and taste a thing for the entire trip. My huge respect for the crew and actors who were able to pull it off and create such amazing footage in those insane conditions. It was also the one and only time in our 15 year relationship that he had entirely forgotten my birthday. I showed up on set after work with a cake.
「做咩無啦啦買蛋糕嘅？」
「．．．我生日呀」
And then the most priceless look on his face as he turned a shade a green. I ended up having to comfort him in return 😆 He’s never forgotten it since.

I’ll also forever be grateful to “Sons of the Neon Night” for making us become the proud parents of our lovely Arya. I still remember the first night she came home like it was yesterday. She was running around like crazy, I was unable to touch her, the other cats were on edge, and I feared that maybe she wasn’t a good fit among our very chill cats. I called him saying, “Maybe this isn’t gonna work out. I’ll give it a couple more days.” (She was next to me as I made the call). Lo and behold, as though she understood my words, she became an entirely different cat the next day, even becoming the biggest mummy’s girl, and I guess that was the beginning of the rest of her life. We love you so much, Yaya.

Enough of my blabber, I hope you enjoy the film! I might be biased but I think it’s fucking great cinema.

Of course there were the young and dumb days that I miss dearly, but getting older is quite possibly the most beautiful thing. The things I’ve seen, the intense things I’ve felt, the pain and the joy, the things I’ve learnt, the people and animals that have touched me. Life has been incredibly kind to me and I’m so grateful to be alive.

If we are granted wishes on birthdays, I don’t have any more personal wishes. I pray to the universe for this peace to be with all the people and for all people to be free from oppression. I wish everyone the gratitude to be alive. May we all dare to dream.
