My very first time at @vibedancecomp happened to be 15 years ago, when the @kinjaz performed at Vibe for the first time as Kinjaz. I remember being inspired by their style and movement, as well as entertained by their over the top concepts and narratives. This weekend I got to perform at Vibe again for the first time in 7 years, and rep the KIN for the first time on the stage that they’ve blessed countless times. I had to pay homage to some of the guys who’ve influenced me the most in my career and come correct with them isos🥷

I first choreographed this piece over a year ago because I hadn’t taught an advanced class in a while and I wanted to murk some beats. After I ditched the piece for a bit because it was too hard to teach (lol), @_anthonylee_ suggested that I shoot it with a couple female dancers which pushed me to step away from my obsession with the pure beatkill in the track and play with bringing more of the track out through movement and visuals. Thank you to @ysapenarejo and @talyahejan for making the vision come to life. I’ve been wanting to dance with Ysa for a minute since we coached Diamond Bar together the past few years. Talyah is a former student of ours who always showed a unique and deep understanding of sound, movement, and visuals. It was such a pleasure to share the space with you all. Here is the result of one quick rehearsal to learn the choreography and four hours of shooting just capturing as many different interesting looks/snippets as we could.
