We’re all looking at the same thing.

We all have to juggle multiple tasks at once. The pressure of being in many places, fulfilling different roles, learning, performing and discovering, can be overwhelming.

In the rush of it all, we can feel isolated, like we’re each running a race no one else sees. It feels like we’re ever more bound by systems.

Constantly uploading. Constantly comparing. Constantly competing.

We keep trying to tell ourselves we’re different. But what if we’re all quite similar? Beneath the surface, there’s a quiet thread that connects us. A kind of stopgap in the noise of life that binds our mutual interests and instincts. The habitual things we all do – eating, sleeping, moving, blinking – are shared rhythms.

These simple acts become anchors. Reminders that we’re not alone in the race, even when it feels that way.

We’re all busy. We’re all going through something. We’re all longing for connection. We exist on different corners and yet we resist and persist in similar territories. We are everything, everywhere, all at once.

And here, we find meaning. Sometimes, we find beauty.

To each our own perspective.

“I think beauty is so much more than one, universal ideaI. Everyone has a different relationship to beauty. We can’t expect someone else to feel the same. We can’t ask them to feel beautiful and we can’t tell them that they’re not allowed to feel ugly, that they should look like this or that... and yet we do and that feels weird, that’s what beauty has become.

It feels like this wasn’t the way it used to be. It feels like beauty was layered, more about an experience. With friends, or on your own, at your favourite places. Was beauty maybe a feeling instead? That’s what I think about, when I think about beauty. That’s what I’m trying to understand: these moments in-between.

In-between getting ready, in-between putting our makeup on, in-between taking our makeup off.
