We are thrilled to announce that the International Short Film Festival Detmold (ISFF DETMOLD) is now selecting films for the 2026 edition.

ISFF Detmold is an international platform dedicated to showcasing outstanding short films from around the world — from compelling first works to bold new voices in cinema.

We have already started reviewing films and are currently in the process of watching selections. Now we invite you to send us your films so we can consider them for inclusion in the official ISFF Detmold 2026 program.

What we accept:
• Short films of all genres — fiction, documentary, animation, experimental.
• Both first films and works by experienced directors
• Films suitable for both in-person screenings in Detmold and online presentation

How to submit:

🔹 Include a short synopsis, director bio, film format and contact information

Deadline: Submissions will be accepted until the April 30, 2026
Early submissions are recommended to increase the chance of selection — please send your film as soon as possible!

Greetings to everyone who has worked hard for this festival and inclusion so far: ISFF Detmold was a decision made 25 years ago.

Will we be able to hold our 22nd festival next year?

Or will we be recognized and receive awards?

The Workgroup Festival Labour within ver.di is starting the first round of its survey for the 4th Fair Festival Award. To give out festival a chance to get into the second round of the fairest film festivals in Germany, we are asking both employed and freelance staff, to participate in the survey at

umfrage (it’s in German, but you should be able to use your browser’s translation facility to understand the questions). More information about the voting and why you should participate can be found in the FAQ at https://festivalarbeit.verdi.de (in German only).

The questionnaire is open from now until December 1st 2025 and it goes through an anonymous link on ver.di’s server. No information about the participants can be tracked and your information will not be shared with the festival office – your anonymity is guaranteed. We hope for your cooperation and that our festival will make it into the second round.
