A (not-so) small adjustment in how our spaces work.
The library now sits closer to what’s happening in the Project Space, allowing reading and exhibitions to exist side by side.
Meanwhile, our Pangarang space continues its role through the Learning Atlas program, supporting learning and community-based activities.
Drop by when you have the time! Our ongoing show, Langgam, is running until 22 February. We are open Wed-Sun, 13:00-20:00.

Bandung Notes 8
1 May 2026 • Soft Structures: The Artist-Parent Condition
Last Friday, we had the FGD with fellow parent-artists, complemented well with insights from children who chose the path of art making. Before starting the discussion, we watched Kidlat Tahimik’s Orbit 50: Letters to my Three Sons as a springboard on how creative process change for people who happen to have kids. (ive seen this before many years ago yet when I watched it again this time, I sobbed like a child!) “I am proud to say that I am a father first, and then a filmmaker. In that order” says Tatay Kidlat towards the end of the film, reflecting on why it took him years to finish a film.
What shifts when an artist becomes a parent isn’t just the schedule, it’s the entire interior landscape from which a work emerges. Art demands time, deep focus, and a genuine piece of yourself in everything you make. So does a child. And unlike a deadline, a child does not wait for the right moment (everybody saw it at UNPAR yesterday haha sorry po!)
Its no longer you and your art but a piece of your own flesh looking at you everyday searching for answers, demanding for your attention, and at the end of the day, nothing else really matters. The child comes first and you have to make way for it, and whether we admit it or not, the general structure isn’t ready to give you that freedom yet.
But it is exactly what this residency provided me, it welcomed my entire family with all that it entails, the tired child, the confused child, the stranger danger child yet here we are at the end of my residency with so much new things to digest, and to realize. I hope @indeks_id continue this, and hopefully more institutions will follow suit.
That this parenting struggle isn’t isolated in the parent-artist archetype, but in every labor stripped of safety nets. The parents who live with the same quiet dread, that what has been saved is one serious illness away from disappearing. Financial precarity is not the exclusive condition of the artist. It is the condition of many people who have chosen, or been placed in, work that the formal economy does not fully protect. And that my friends, is the bigger picture.

“Soft Structures: The Artist-Parent Condition” considers how artistic practice is shaped by the conditions of care, attending to parenting as a form of labor that reorganizes time, attention, and modes of production. Rather than positioning parenthood in opposition to artistic work, the session approaches it as a generative framework through which new rhythms, constraints, and forms of knowledge emerge. Accompanied by a screening of Kidlat Tahimik’s Orbit 50: Letters to My Three Sons (1992), the discussion situates artist-parenthood within broader questions of visibility, support, and the infrastructures that sustain both life and practice. This session will be facilitated by Bea Belen-Ferrer.

Morning Moon
Pameran Tunggal oleh Alrezky Caesaria
Kurator: Maradita Sutantio
6 - 12 April 2026
Rabu—Minggu
13.00–20.00 WIB
Indeks Project Space,
Jl. Pangampaan No. 37, Bandung
—

Beginning with the pixel as the smallest unit of digital language, Alrezky Caesaria expands her long-standing exploration of the boundary between digital and physical space into a lived experience. Through this exhibition, she introduces 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘰—a fictional studio operating as a “real” business within an imagined world—where pixels are produced for actual clients, yet the structure that generates them exists only in narrative.
Positioning digital labor as artistic medium, the exhibition reflects on value, fiction, and production within contemporary economies. Can an imagined system generate real meaning? Morning Moon unfolds as both inquiry and invitation: a space where play and material presence converge.
——
Exhibition runs until 12 Apr 2026, opens Wed—Sun, 13:00–20:00 WIB
