First byline in the NEW YORK TIMES 🥹🥹🥹 Film at Lincoln Center is perhaps my favorite place in all of New York City, and this is my tenth year in NY, so all this New York energy is just vibrating. TY to @karl_delo for basically being my manager and to @betsyblackbb for connecting me to this story in the first place.

After 34 incredible years together, I’m very sorry to report that I’m now without my favorite people-watching, eavesdropping, and gossip partner. This week my grandma passed away after living 84 wonderful years. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I absolutely adored this woman. She took me to Stars on Ice as a little boy, introduced me to films like 9 to 5 and You’ve Got Mail, and was always ready to shit talk Trump. She perfected the art of a 4-hour-long restaurant chit-chat, and never missed an opportunity to buy a knick-knack. She loved the Detroit local news, history books, and anything involving a serial killer. She watched Titanic a dozen times in theaters, adored Boston Rob, and ate two pieces of Dove dark chocolate with breakfast every morning because “her doctor told her to.” She was married for over 60 years to my grandpa and spent most of that time critiquing his driving and stealing bites from his cream cones. I really don’t think it is possible to love a human more than I loved her, and I will miss her very much. Looking forward to that moment in the afterlife where we sit down for the world’s longest lunch and she says, “Oh you’ll never believe what happened!”
