Highland Park Pres
A Jesus church for the flourishing of the city and beyond
Join us In-Person and Online:
Sundays, 8:15, 9:30, and 11 am

In Paul’s letter to the church in Philippi, we are faced with a strange tension. Philippians is likely the last of Paul’s letters in the Bible. He is awaiting his execution in a Roman prison and yet it is his most joyful letter that we have on record.
Paul is not naïve about his situation. He knows he is likely to die in the near future, and yet he reminds his readers that he has choices about how to focus his mind, heart, and soul on the things of faith that bring connection to God and one another. Paul’s letter reminds us that our hope is never in our worldly circumstances but rather in the call and promise of God.
Join on Sundays at 8:15, 9:30 and 11 am as we journey through this 13-week series as we discover how to live as people who have ongoing joy as described in the Book of Philippians.

One hundred years ago, women and men of faith planted Highland Park Presbyterian Church. As we enter into 2026, we continue to direct our hearts towards the master and perfecter of our faith, Jesus Christ.
We invite you to join us this year as we celebrate 100 years of God’s faithfulness yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Introducing our 2026 summer interns, Andrew, Jenna, Fiona, Joseph, Bekah, Kay, Ethan, and Presley!
Our eight inters will be active leaders in our Elementary, Middle, and High School departments and make such a difference in our mission of leading all generations to find and follow Jesus. Please join us in praying for them and the ways that God will use this summer to shape them…as well as how they will also shape us.

As this season of children's choir comes to an end, we look back at the lessons learned, the songs sung, and the laughs shared.
The children who participated in choir this year had the chance to lead in worship on Mother’s Day, sharing the gift of music with our whole church. Worship is in everything we do as Christ-followers and our hope is that choir will lay a foundation for these children to become life-long worshippers.
Children and Student Choirs will resume this August. We’d love for your kids to come be a part of all the musical fun to be had this upcoming school year!

On July 11, 1926, we held our very first general Communion service on the second floor of what was then Highland Park High School, officiated by Stated Supply Minister Rev. E.C. Scott.
Fast forward 50 years to May 16, 1976, when we celebrated our Golden Anniversary, pictured here, with a special Rededication and Communion Sunday. Members were handed metal Communion tokens, reminders of the significance of this sacrament.
Today, these tokens serve as reminders that while we have grown from a school floor to our beautiful Sanctuary, the invitation to the table remains a sacred thread throughout our history.

Before there were stone walls or stained glass, there was Sunday School. On May 2, 1926, weeks before the church was even formally organized, the machinery was put into motion at the Highland Park Community House. What started with 250 members grew so rapidly that by 1932, the church had to erect temporary buildings to house the overflow of students.
These attendance bars were earned by George W. McDaniel and represent the early spirit of dedication. Each bar marks a year of "stepping up" to the next grade, reflecting a goal that remains unchanged for 100 years later: to foster a continuing growth in Christian character and learning. From those modest beginnings to our current educational units, we remain a people committed to being lifelong learners.

Parenting is an ever-evolving journey. Each milestone is accompanied by new phases, new trends, and new challenges. It’s rewarding at times and teaches us more about ourselves than we thought it would. One thing remains true through every season of parenting – it’s okay to not have all the answers.
Throughout the school year, Treasure Keepers provides a place for moms of all walks of life to share the good and hard moments of parenting. Kelly Ann, a Table Leader and long-time attendee, shares, “Motherhood can feel repetitive and unseen, but Treasure Keepers is a place where burdens are shared, faith is strengthened, and mothers are consistently pointed back to Christ.”
As parents of four children in a blended family, Kelly Ann and her husband, Robert, often look to the advice of others for help navigating the seasons of parenthood. When Kelly Ann received an invitation from a close friend to attend Treasure Keepers, she jumped at the chance to learn and grow in the company of other moms. She shares, “I was instantly grateful for the impact the talks and discussions had on my approach to raising children in Christ.”
Parents can’t be prepared for every moment of their child’s life. There will be difficult conversations, late nights, and mountaintop moments. In the midst of all of it, the greatest thing a parent can do for their child is guide them to Jesus. In Kelly Ann’s words, “My deepest hope is that my children would know God intimately, trust in Jesus Christ, and walk with Him all the days of their lives.”
Being a spiritual mentor is to be deeply interested in the lives of others. Watch the rest of Jim Singleton’s sermon at hppres.org/sermons.

Have you ever taken a closer look at our campus? The details etched into our church building display exceptional levels of beauty and craftsmanship, but more importantly, they tell the story of salvation.
The daily maintenance of our campus, while not often glamorous, is a necessary part of the life of HP Pres. Investing in our church facilities to repair and replace aging infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical panels, roofing, stained glass, exterior grounds, playground areas, residences, and essential equipment to support continued growth is a form of ministry.
This spring, we launched the Renew Campaign - an intentional effort to prepare for our second century of ministry through two commitments: Renewing Our Spaces and Renewing Our Reach. To complete this ambitious work, we are praying for our congregation to help meet the project’s fundraising goal of $20 million.
Would you prayerfully consider how God might be leading you to participate in Renew?
