Number 11: the people behind the scenes โจ๏ธ
While our students always have been at the heart of DAE, none of this would be possible without the teachers and staff pushing them to be their best selves.
From teachers, researchers and administration to community managers, technical support, and cleaning staff. To everyone working behind the scenes: thank you for helping make DAE what it is today! ๐

At DAE, we don't only create for film or games.
Since 2023, we've been collaborating with @lorealpro and @nyxcosmetics_benelux, exploring how digital art and real-time technology can be used beyond the entertainment industry.
The collaboration includes competitions, creative campaigns made by students, and even internship opportunities at the L'Orรฉal Benelux headquarters in Amsterdam. ๐
One of the biggest highlights was the Style & Colour Trophy. DAE student Natalia Grytczuk went on to win not only the Benelux selection, but also the global finals against entries from (among others) China and Brazil ๐
Also big shoutout to @nyxcosmetics_benelux for sponsoring our 2026 Prom with three amazing MUA's and a happy hour at the bar ๐
Featuring work by Natalia Grytczuk, Valeria Balaneva, and Tatyana Petrova.

Lectures and students from Howest DAE (Digital Arts & Entertainment) and ERGO (Occupational Therapy) recently were at UBU in Spain for the face-to-face part of the SAP: Video Games and Social Transformation: Co-Creation for Inclusive and Accessible Design.
โWe went to visit people with cerebral palsy in Burgos and their inventivity, craftiness, and will to be able to play games was inspiring. Our students all made wildly different and fun games for them, showing that good and accessible game design can take many forms. This was my first SAP and it immediately showed me how diverse backgrounds and expertises can definitely make a difference, not only in terms of the solutions for the patients, but also for both students and teachers,โ said Howest DAE lecturer Kasper Geeroms. @howest_dae @kaspergeeroms
โIt was once again a really fun and special experience, together with DAE colleagues and game students,โ according to Anne Dejager from Howest ERGO @howest_ergotherapie @anne.dejager.710
This SAP is the result of the collaboration between University of Burgos (UBU), Howest University of Applies Sciences (Belgium) and the Polytechnic University of Leiria (Portugal). It arises from the need to address these inequalities by promoting inclusive design practices that place accessibility at the core of the development process. It recognises the importance of involving diverse users, not only as recipients but as active co-creators, in the design of digital tools that respond to their needs. The programme is grounded in a co-creation philosophy that values interdisciplinarity, user-centred design, and real-world impact.ย @ubu_runeu @howestbe @politecnico_de_leiria
The SAP will be wrapping up at the end of this week online but the collaborations will continue! Thanks to all who took part!

20 posts for 20 years of DAE ๐
Number 8: Creaweek ๐จ
One week, no grades, just creativity ๐๐บ
Every year, the Creaweek gives students the chance to step away from their usual classes, and get to know other students from all different majors while trying something new. ๐
From workshops like pixel art, clay modelling, and VFX makeup for the first years to game jams and film jams for the second years.
It's a week full of experimenting, collaborating, learning, and also having fun along the way.
Because sometimes you need a moment to just create.

3D1 is a course thatโs been part of DAE since the very beginning. For a lot of students, these are their first steps into the world of 3D.
From city scenes to dioramas, from old-school tools to modern workflows - this course has grown a lot. But itโs purpose stayed exactly the same: building strong fundamentals ๐ช

DAE turns 20 this year! ๐ So let's look at 20 things that define DAE.
Number 2: our Virtual Production Studio ๐ฌ
What started as a green key setup in 2013, has grown into a full Virtual Production studio. Think a huge LED wall, motion caption, camera tracking,... all in one space!
When Virtual Production started taking off worldwide, we didn't just watch. We built our own studio.
It's a space that brings game and film technology closer together.
Keep your eyes peeled for the next ones! ๐
