Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, is a chronic condition that can significantly disrupt daily life and increase the risk of colon cancer. Early diagnosis is critical, particularly for children and young adults, as it allows patients to begin treatment and better manage symptoms.

But as these patients grow older, transitioning from pediatric to adult care can be challenging. A new joint program between Houston Methodist and Texas Children’s Hospital aims to ease that transition, helping patients maintain continuity of care and stay in remission.
