ANNYEONG HA SHIM NI KA!
greetings from the eastern port city of wonsan, a bumpy 5hr drive from the capital pyongyang, north korea.
fun fact: this sleepy beachside resort town doubles up as a missile/artillery/weapons test site - in fact two missiles were fired a day before we arrived. 😓
anyhoos heres a rare photo of me standing in front of one of the gazillion mosaic murals featuring the two kims. and cuz the kims are revered like gods i had to adhere to many rules before this photo could be taken:
no selfie.
no poses.
no smile.
stand 10m away.
crop out the skeleton face on tshirt.
but i like the skeleton on my tshirt! ☠️✊🏼

I DID IT!!!!! I FOUND TRUE NORTH!!!
after hiking for about 140m from helidrop point, a fellow expedition mate from china found it 2m from where i stood and we all rushed towards him to borrow his phone for a photo. this 90° north location lasted all of 30seconds before shifting again because the earth is constantly rotating.
many have thought i was crazy to pay USD21,000 for a 3-day expedition to spend only 1hr at the north pole. ill admit it was a painful decision that i took months to be ok with, simply cuz im not financially stable or floating in cash. but i figured ill prob not make it to mars or explore outer space in my lifetime so why not visit at least one of the earth’s poles upon which it spins? there is nothing to see out here. its a barren desert of snow and ice. but theres something quite special about being at the top of the world, where every step you take is south. everyone on my expedition team has only one goal: to locate 90° north. after being here i realized the mad logistics and expertise required to transport people to the north pole. a single plane ride already costs USD100,000. im convinced that in order to explore extreme locations, id have to commit a little more. its not for everyone thats for sure. only 200 people make it to the north pole every year.
we heard that the expedition team last year only managed 89° north cuz of where they had to land, and one year before that 90° north was located over a body of water!! so we were extremely fortunate this year! im so giddy from joy right now i dont know if ill ever recover from this high, or ever go back to mundane city living after having had a taste of the extremes this world has to offer. ill be having major withdrawals for months to come. and if/when i become broke, ill look back on all my photos and videos and smile.

I’m excited to share that I’m supporting @wwf’s partnership with @agoda on the Eco Deals programme! 🌏
This isn't a paid gig. We teamed up because we both believe travel can—and should—change the world for the better.
Currently, entering its fifth year, the WWF x Agodapartnership has already made a massive impact - raising US$2.89 million to date for wildlife conservation and habitat protection across Asia! 🐾
To keep that momentum going, Agoda has pledged another US$1.5 million through this year’s edition. The best part? You can help just by planning your next getaway.
For every booking made at a participating Eco Deals property, Agoda donates US$1 directly to WWF’s efforts to safeguard our incredible terrestrial and marine habitats.
It’s such a simple way to travel more mindfully (and affordably!) while giving back to the places we love to visit.
Look out for the “Eco Deals” tag / check with hotel before booking your next trip and be part of the mission!

diving will never feel second nature or relaxing to me, but i have been keeping at it because my curiosity towards otherworldy spaces far outweighs my initial fear.
the first time i came to El Pit was back in 2022, to improve my freediving technique under the expert guidance of @mattfreediver. it was a sunny day and the light beams were shooting through the water like spears.
now im back again 4 years later to scuba and pick up buoyancy management tips under the expert guidance of cave-diver @filnominal. all these shots beautifully captured by the uber talented @divewells. the overcast sky that day gave this cavern an eerie glow, hit 27m depth and dived in the cloudy halocline for the first time… twas quite the experience.
and because i was in the company of gentle giants, both times i was able to quickly slip into a more relaxed state of mind… and discover how much i enjoy the serenity that comes with diving in caverns, versus the anxiety + stress i feel during open ocean dives.
ps: can u spot me looking ridiculous in my mismatched fins? pps: already looking forward to mexico 2027!

physically in Patagonia but mentally in Penico, an extension of the Sacred City of Caral… the oldest civilization in the Americas believed to be as ancient as Mesopotamia, that predates the Incas by about 4000-4500 years.
we travelled 4.5hr in a car from Lima, stayed 2 nights at the @empedrada_ which is located 15min drive away from Penico (and 30mins from Caral during winter months). it took 8 years to uncover only 30% of this energetically-charged archaelogical site that once was a vibrant trading hub that connected the Andes to the Amazon to the coast. behind me was a sundial and a space to observe the stars.
Penico was only opened to public in July 2025, so we were the first Singaporeans and the only ones there that day. excited to see what unfolds in the coming years! there is so much more to Peru than the Machu Picchu!
i dont understand how people can visit a country once, stay for a week and say they’ve “been there”(im looking at you, privileged country counters on a mission to speed-visit all 195 UN-recognized countries!)
its my 7th time back in Peru since my first visit in 2018.. and im still learning and discovering more experiences and sights!

✨heres wishing Ramadan Kareem to all muslims in my instagram community✨
here at the stunning wonder that is the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, Syria. this space has been used as a place of worship since the Iron Age: by the Arameans for their god of rain, the Greeks for zeus, Romans for their rain god jupitor, then by the Christian Byzantines, and finally the Muslims of the Umayyad Empire.
aside from its obviously stunning architecture and intricate mosaic details, the Umayyad Mosque is considered to be the oldest mosque still in use in its original form. definitely one of my highlights when in Damascus.
explore Syria with me this November. will drop dates in May :)

SAVE THIS POST: jaipur, and her surrounds, will always have my heart. to explore this city at a confortable pace id recommend at least 5 full days here.
1. cover photo: the palace of the winds (hawa mahal) looks better from the outside. i found the best, most centred view point across the street at tattoo cafe, which charges a 250 INR entry fee, fully redeemable for drink or snack of choice. this compulsory charge also makes tattoo cafe less stressful than the jampacked wind view cafe next door.
2. visit @citypalacejaipur and pay the 5000 INR fee to tour the inner palace (where the stunning blue room is) price includes refreshment at the palace rooftop bar as well as a guide. best time to visit: 3pm. we had the whole place to ourselves. i would also take the opportunity to buy pashmina from the palace shop.
3. we stayed at the @fairmontjaipurindia, felt palatial. impressive breakfast spread, top notch service, and just overall solid vibes. theres always one dude stationed above entrance to rain rose petals on arriving guests.
4. @thejohrijaipur is a stunning property located in the heart of the pink city. i would recommend having drinks at the bar only.
5. i enjoyed my visit @nilajaipur, an interactive community space that demonstrates various forms of indian traditional crafts, educates via workshops, and supports livelihoods of local craftswomen through their in-house retail boutiques. a short 12min walk away is @jaipurmodern, a chic restaurant and retail space which carries indian designer creations from lifestyle to fashion.
6. visit the mother of all stepwells, the Chand Baori, approx 90mins away by car. as well as the stunning red stone palace, Fatehpur Sikri, best experienced during the golden hour.
i wish i had more time in jaipur to relax in between sightseeing. its something i made the mistake of not scheduling: do nothing days.

3. we stayed at the @fairmontjaipurindia, felt palatial. impressive breakfast spread, top notch service, and just overall solid vibes. theres always one dude stationed above entrance to rain rose petals on arriving guests.

6. visit the mother of all stepwells, the Chand Baori, approx 90mins away by car. as well as the stunning red stone palace, Fatehpur Sikri, best experienced during the golden hour.
i wish i had more time in jaipur to relax in between sightseeing. its something i made the mistake of not scheduling: do nothing days.

SAVE THIS: portraits of #Jodhpur, the blue city. with recommendations and tips on how to navigate this popular Rajasthan stopover.
Jodphur is home to countless rooftop restaurants that offer great vantage points for sweeping views of the city. the rock-forged #MehrangarhFort dominates the landscape… you look left look right also cant escape fort view. we had some of the best food and cocktails here, and viewed many hotel rooms that looked much better in real life than online. here are my recs..
STAY: @stepwellcafeandhotel - cute, well-priced boutique hotel with a stunning rooftop restaurant that serves views and delish well-priced food. rooms have street views with window seats for people watching.
SPA: @raashotels - solid spa therapists. non hotel guests get to book the spa before 2pm, and can pay a small day fee to use the hotel’s pool and shower facilities. we made the mistake of having lunch here, overpriced and underwhelming.
F&B: @daspanhousejodhpur - we loved the food so much we went back twice. chef’s super versatile and excels in chinese, thai, western and local cuisine. bar was legit too.
@ontherocksrestaurantandbar - an enclave of restaurants and bars that serve everything from pan asian to italian cuisines. we had a shockingly shiok steamed mushroom dumpling dish!? this is a solid joint if u need a break from indian spices.
SHOP: @m.v.spices, shop of the famous “spice girls of india” and bought precious Kashmir saffron. best gift for anyone who loves to cook. 1300inr for 2grams!
TIPS:
1. you do not need to book a guide to explore the blue city on foot. simply pick a starting point and allow yourself to get lost. (tho i feel the blue city is prettier from afar than within)
2. you do not need to prebook a guide for the Mehrangarh fort either. book an official guide thru the fort’s ticket counter. costs 400inr. theres also money changer at the fort (new) and the rates are decent.
3. UBER works but we had coupla unpleasant experiences with shady drivers. best to pre-arrange airport pickup to avoid starting your trip on a sour note.
