𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘰𝘭𝘥, our collaborative show with 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 remains on view until February 21!

For the 𝘚𝘰𝘧𝘵 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 series, 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗶 employs brick molds commonly used in Guatemala to work with negative space as a mode of construction. Weaving appears as a soft material embedded within these structures, establishing a tension between the solid and the flexible, the enduring and the ephemeral.

Through her innovative use of traditional materials and techniques, Ascoli invites viewers to reconsider the familiar and the foreign. Poetic in nature, her work opens reflections on migration and on the dynamics of power and expression across different cultural contexts, as well as on the nuances we often fail to register, translate, or fully understand. These textile works are developed in collaboration with the back-strap loom, a technique central to Ascoli’s practice.
