Following the story of a father’s dream and determination to play at least one game on the same pitch as his son before hanging up his boots is one of those unforgettable and inspirational tales we’ve had the privilege to tell.

Despite battling injuries and the physical toll of the game, Martin “Cherry” Macauley, driven by sheer determination, managed to make his dream a reality—even knocking his knee back into place to stay on the pitch. Fighting through the pain, he was able to share that special moment with his son, Dominic, during their win at Barra. Unfortunately, his knee was in such bad shape afterward that he had to be taken to the hospital. As he so gracefully put it, “It was Dom’s first game, and it was my last.”
