The Editions project was a wonderful collaboration with one of my long term-clients, Ross Gardam. We develop our concepts together, usually at the greatest hive of creativity, the pub. The project was photographed over a couple of days in Ross’s unfinished home, a brutalist space under construction by Splinter Society, defined by distressed concrete architecture and raw materiality.

The shoot itself was a chance to ‘flex’ the lighting muscles, capturing all the elements in camera as we illuminated each limited edition design from darkness. Otherworldly light shafts defining a unique tension between object and space.

These are the shoots I enjoy most: open briefs that allow time to refine the light and control it to build clear visual narratives, with small considered moments that introduce layers and depth.

Working in a kiddie pool with rocks and water and loads of expensive water hating gear should be stressful; but it’s only ever fun. Beautiful brass and oil rubbed bathroom hardware with loads of splashes on to rocks arranged perfectly by @natturnbull . Was a good day.

The Breeze Coffee Table Collection by @rossgardam ; fun set build where nothing broke amazingly. These pieces are proper beautiful, finished with bronze mirrors and Emperador Marble from right here in Oz. Described by the man himself as ‘an exploration of the divergence of mass planar forms and the subtle light play they produce’…yep, what he said. I use the one I have at home for beer and the remote.

This is the blue Movie Room in an extraordinary project by @boardgrove architects. Located in Ivanhoe, it’s part of a whole house transformation being undertaken, and as with all BoardGrove projects colour lies at the heart of design. It connects to another room, that’s a post for tomorrow….
