Dear God,

Thank you. Not only did you create one of the best people on the planet, but you have kept her here on Earth for us to soak in for 88 years!! When stage 4 ovarian cancer should have taken her (twice), through a heart attack, multiple hospital stays- and so many years- how lucky are we to still have our Mimi. For as long as I can remember I would make Mimi promise me she would never die. And she always responds “of course I won’t.” She has one of the strongest wills I’ve ever known. When I think of her my first thought is her standing on her porch in her mumu every time we leave her house waving until we can’t see her anymore. She has always been the rock of our family. She is absolutely crazy yet keeps me grounded and sane. She’s one of the strongest people I have ever met.I’ll always treasure our childhood where we spent the night every night all the cousins fighting over who gets to sleep next to her “in the middle”… the flinstone push up pops for breakfast, sliding down the castle slide into her pool and making her watch us as we jump from the diving board. I remember her red convertible and how cool I felt when she picked me up in it. I think of ordering in Chinese food and watching Michael buble on whatever show we could. I think of watching ice skating and watching you sing in church and letting us sing with you for the last song. I think of the stories of “Halee” and “Cassee” that you told us to fall asleep… and now I get to see that relationship with my own kids who know they get dessert everytime they go to Mimi’s. Happy 88th birthday Mimi, and thank you God for giving us all these years.

The craziest thing is that there are a million more moments than this highlight reel- little ordinary moments, sleepless nights, moving, pregnancies, laughter, travel, babies, friendship- I’m in awe of how many lives we have lived and yet I fall in love again and again and again and again

As we round our 2025 here are a few massive content dumps as I wish to look back on this year with joy rather than my current feeling of struggle. This has been one of the harder years yet when I remember all the small moments- the kids first snow, simple back yard hangs, dinners around the table while kids refuse to sit down, small moments with friends that fill the cup, and the family we are building how can I not be filled with joy. ❤️💋
