To mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and America’s founding, London’s @ScienceMuseum is exploring the rich and complex scientific history that shaped the United States.

With support from Griffin Catalyst, “Becoming America: How Science Shaped a Nation” invites visitors to experience extraordinary artifacts, remarkable maps and stunning paintings that show how science shaped—and was shaped by—the founding of a new nation.

In 2023, Griffin Catalyst provided seed funding to advance Feng Zhang’s research at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard on programmable therapeutics, an emerging approach that aims to reprogram cells to address a broad spectrum of human diseases. ​

That support is now helping advance new discoveries. ​

Researchers at @MIT and the @BroadInstitute have developed an mRNA-based approach that helps the immune system function more effectively as we age by prompting the body to produce signals that strengthen key immune cells. ​

Published in Nature, the study suggests a potential way to improve vaccine responses and enhance the effectiveness of certain cancer treatments. ​

For the first time in recorded history, bird flu has reached Antarctica. If left unchecked, the virus has the potential to devastate Antarctica's wildlife populations, with consequences at a global scale. ​

By supporting new scientific research and tracing efforts led by the @CornellVet, Griffin Catalyst is helping scientists understand the nature and spread of this virus, to inform work to mitigate its deadly impact. ​
