A man after my own wet heart. Saul Steinberg painted this on a friend’s bath in Paris, 1955. (Photo by Alfred Gescheidt)
He called himself “a writer who draws,” and loved drawing on all kinds of surfaces: walls, chairs, old scraps of wood.
He skipped traditional art school: “When something becomes professional, it’s the beginning of the end.”
“Girl in Bathtub,”1949
“Woman in Tub,” 1949 (appeared in “Flair,” 1950, one of the best mags to do it)
“New Yorker” illustrations, 1949-56
He worked with the mag for nearly 60 years, making 90 covers and 1,200+ drawings (!!!)

💔RIP to the sweetheart tub—its original home at Pocono Palace Resort is closing.
The first six tubs were handmade in 1963 by their inventor, Morris Wilkins, who also brought us the champagne glass whirlpool tub. Humanity truly doesn’t deserve the bounty this legendary love hotelier left behind.
In the king’s own words: “I felt that the bathroom was the great neglected honeymoon accommodation. There was already action in the bedroom, but I thought there could be action in the bathroom, too.”

💗🤤 @sabine_marcelis justed designed the pink onyx bathroom of my dreams for @solid_nature
The design-y stuff:
"The monolithic state of the art bathroom of Pink Pale Hue onyx can be admired from different angles as a sculpture. This playful installation designed by @sabinemarcelis seems to glow from within and every element of the bathroom has been meticulously taken into account by the designer who has created a breathtaking piece where form and function cohexists.
"The approach was really to not think of it as a room, but more as an object that has all the functionings you would find in a bathroom all together in one. The bathroom is a composition of different volumes meeting each other and each volume has a specific function. And in those intersections where the volumes come together the Onyx plays a really important role with letting the lights through in these corners to create these delicate moments of illumination."

🚰Behold the glory of the center-aligned faucet, which recently won first place in our Annual Bathing Fixture Positions Contest.🏆
Affixed to the wall along the length of the bath (as opposed to "head" or "tail"), it's an ergonomic breakthrough that allows the bather to recline in either direction—or for multiple bathers to enjoy tub time without the risk of faucet-to-back-of-head impact. 🤕
