💞 I’m having a solo show starting JUNE 1st - 29th 2025 (Opening next Sunday at 3-5pm 💞) Come Through xxxxx

I’m excited cos it’s finally something not health related and where I can invite people into my brain, ways of seeing the world and playing on the canvas (or whatever I find). I love love love that it’s in South London and in a place where people can gather 🥹

Big Love 🧡 and thanks to @coodielondon for hosting me, it means a lot. Thank you gorgeous friends @angelina.radakovic & @lorenelhili for the curatorial support and everyone that has pushed me over the last 3’ish years to delve into my arts practice.

Enjoyed doing this film with @themodernhouse themodernhouse earlier this month 💗

I am in a love affair with pre-loved finds and fancies - especially if you are the one re-loving, restoring or flipping it. 💃🏽

I picked out some things that are really special to me for my 7 Wonders including my tender clothes and physical wardrobe as well as my special side table💗💗💗

If you know me like that, then you know I LOVE MY GARMS. 💕💗💕 I love finding new ways to wear something that i’ve owned for like 10+ years and try to navigate a changing body (thighs getting thicker honey🍯). Ngl and say that this fact is easy for me, because honestly when I saw this film I immediately felt ugly and cringy 😩 and whilst its a reflex it is somewhat telling of some of the ways I see myself (unlearning in process). I’m sure lots of people can relate. Anyway though, something that does give me endorphins is the colour, texture and sheer fun that runs through the character of the clothes that I own. So on an ugly feeling day maybe leaning into and being body proud, by adorning yourself in comfort and colour, can be a little pick-me-up 🤲🏽

This story didnt make the cut but I like it. When my Mum and Dad got married like 30+ years ago, as was tradition in Jamaican church culture in those days, they were gifted things that would really help to set them up. My wardrobe is one of those pieces. Its the only part left of a 5-piece set that they were gifted 30 odd years ago. I kept it because I grew up around it, grew to love it because of the home it reminds me of and simply because if it aint broke why not🧚🏽‍♀️

Similarly my side-table was another item I saved from my now sold family home. It was bought in 1993, used throughout all of my childhood then kind of neglected. When I moved out I took it with me, taught myself how to cut and tile and made it into something I absolutely love so much.✨Like I say in the film “ when you put value into something you love it more”.

🌍If there is anything I’d ever want to note is that becoming planetary conscious starts at home, starts small and starts by simply daring to have more imagination. 🌍

💕💕💕 It’s so gorgeous to hear how The Slow Grind: Practising Hope and Imagination, Book 2 in The Slow Grind series is making its way across the world and stirring the hearts and minds of curious folks and planet lovers.

Editor @saint_lovie chatted with @fatannawintour for her final year Fashion Journalism Podcast at @csm_news about the impact of both books on the culture of the creative and climate industries. But what’s more special is the way the books have made @fatannawintour feel personally:

“The Slow Grind made me feel empowered to acknowledge a broken system. It helped me understand how the main problems of our time are interlinked, and gave me hope that other people feel this way and want change.“

We wanna hear your stories, so DM us, Tag Us and tell us how The Slow Grind is making you feel ✨🌿💕

If you don’t have a copy of this independently published book grab one at: WWW.THESLOWGRIND.WORLD

BIG LOVE AS ALWAYS * esp to the hundreds of you that have supported book #2

When I left chronic pain rehab in December I made some personal and professional goals for myself and hoped to move through them slowly this year.

I’m spending more time on my arts practice, learning to frame artwork - with the view of potentially building it into my business 🤭 learning ceramics and giving back to my community by volunteering in public gardens!!!! Yikes

Feeling very curious, content and expectant 🦋

For all the madness that is also present in the @nhsenglandldn it really did me a solid at the end of 2025.

I was blessed enough to be referred to Chronic Pain Rehab via my gynae/endometriosis team that I’ve been with since 2022 and so lived at the hospital for the majority of December 2025. Very full circle as I’d had a major gynae operation at the same hospital Dec 2024.

Endometriosis is beyond tough. It’s a whole body disability that is only being given attention in medicine in the last 5+ years. For reference, I had my first gynae operation at 17 and 3 operations later, was finally diagnosed at 29, which is just over the average time for an endometriosis diagnosis which is 8/10 years.

Rehab was so unbelievably transformative. Being with other women of every age dealing with chronic pain made me feel like I wasn’t crazy. Like I wasn’t the only one gaslighting myself and downplaying how all encompassing chronic pain is.

The programme itself was based on ACT - Acceptance Commitment Therapy. A type of therapy grounded in radical self-compassion and grasping an understanding of what “more life” + recommitting to ourselves looks like within the context of suffering with daily pain. Hearing from other women on how they felt like they were constantly letting others down, grieving dreams and livelihoods, being unable to work made me feel less alone, which was the whole point. But beyond this, we learnt how to understand our capacities and build them slowly and safely.

Whilst I was apprehensive about living with strangers and spending 8 hours a day with them, I went in with no expectations around what we would actually do n rehab. Good Lord it was emotional, challenging, exhausting and deeply confronting. All the things a life with a disability is truthfully.

Anywayyyyy, something I went away with is more direction. I’ve been afraid to pour myself into my art practice: moonlighting as a curator/producer etc, writing and publishing (which I love)etc, but I really love making art, but I’ve had no clue how to make it a successful career path. But if I took anything away from rehab, it was to start and see. Ahhhh scary🫨

Gather with @theslowgrind.world and friends @resolvecollective @earth.tenders @oooretha at @referencepoint180 for an evening of film (@groundingswithmysisters @hope_prl @purebred.mongrel ) sound performance and conversation to continue fundraising efforts in support of island communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis, more recently affected by the severe devastation of Hurricane Melissa. 🇯🇲🌊🌿

The Slow Grind as a Research and Publishing project has been focused on raising the alarm of climate injustice, ecological breakdown and the role of intersectional environmentalism and continues to, through research and open-education models. We want to continue to hold hope for a collective future that safeguards the botanical, communal and land cultures of Caribbean peoples, and direct our work towards this.

Tickets are available via @referencepoint180 and on a sliding scale.

All ticket sales will go towards selected bodies to help deliver direct relief and support of resilience initiatives in and for Jamaica, as well as to develop education and conservation modes to support land and cultural sovereignty.

It’s Tuesday Tour time and this week we’re taking a look at some work created in our Print Studio as part of Unfolding ~ Correspondent.

Unfolding ~ Correspondent was an ambitious exhibition and publication project curated by @katherineamurphy. The exhibition took place in Centrespace in October, bringing together invited ‘correspondents’ - a group of artists, curators, writers, designers, and printmakers - to respond with the curator to DCA’s 2024-25 exhibition programme.

As part of the project artist, writer and curator Georgina Johnson spent time in the studio, exploring how a print-based residency could be made more accessible for sick and disabled artists and curators. This residency was guided by conversations about illness and equity, and explored how spaces can be built to meet everyone’s needs.

Georgina’s work was part of the exhibition and a corresponding text responding to the residency is included in the Unfolding ~ Correspondent publication, which was printed in the studio and is available from DCA Shop.

Georgina’s self-published books Slow Grind: Finding Our Way Back to Creative Balance (2020) and Slow Grind: Practising Hope and Imagination (2023) call for new rhythms that centre sickness, disability, access and care alongside beauty, resistance and the imagining of better futures.

🚨HURRICANE MELISSA FUNDRAISER

We tend to think as a climatic or extreme weather event as a single thing but the effects of these are so far reaching into the future and largely unfathomable, even by scientific standards.

There are so very crucial things to draw your attention to. Please reshare this post and ones to come. Tag us and keep the conversation going.

UPDATE ‼️

🇯🇲 The first organisation we’ve identified to donate funds we raise to is - Jamaica Basic (primary) Schools Foundation 🇯🇲

A 30 year old organisation based in The Jamaica High Commission office in London, that supports the direct development of primary schools across every parish in Jamaica.

Their work has made the Jamaican government recognise schools in poorer areas of Jamaica as part of the official school system, and as such support their further development. The CEO post their fundrasing gala this weekend will be visiting Jamaica to asses the damage to the schools they have built.

We would love to be able to not donate peanuts and actually support them but need you to do so.
PLEASE DIG DEEP xxx

Big Love to the people that have supported so far 💚

though it doesn’t happen that often, i loathe being interviewed. even though asking the questions is, like, 40% of my job, being on the other side makes me feel like a total dumb bitch, never quite able to convey the nuances of what it is i actually want to say (and makes me have such admiration for the countless people who express themselves so eloquently when i grill them!).

anyway, i did not loathe this interview with @saint_lovie for @thecreativeindependent. her generosity of spirit and critical intuition prompted responses that (i hope lol) do not make me come off as a total dumb bitch. here are some bookie screenshots where i liked the sound of what i said — on the importance of a punishing edit, on the weirdness of being trans in the workplace and the protections required, and on why any institution lacking rigorous critique risks descending into fascism. hopefully you like what i say too xoxo

Ridiculous that this was just over a year ago. @thecommonpress hosted one of our dreaming rooms with a really great participant audience.

Darlings @emiialrai and @ariasaleja read from their essays in our second book - The Slow Grind:Practising Hope and Imagination. Sounds, conversation and questions filled the space and we delved into them collectively. It’s always amazing to activate any of the works published through The Slow Grind Press in community with others.
