Many of you may have already noticed the recent changes here at Get a Gato.
Starting from September 22nd we have implemented several updates that will be effective moving forward
These modifications impact the pricing of lounge tickets, the presence of children in the lounge, and the lounge sessions themselves.
Tickets will now be a standard price at $15 each for sessions on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, regardless of entry or exit times. So if you are running late you will still be expected to end your visit at the end of the 50 minute session.
This does mean we will be ending our 30 minute walk-in discount as well as pay what you wish Wednesdays.
Don’t worry! We’ve got an even better deal for you!
We are excited to announce a 50% discount on our standard 50 minute tickets during the midweek! Enjoy a reduced price visit on these days, perfect for larger groups and families looking to spend less while enjoying more time with the cats!
As this new deal is fantastic for families, we are revising our policy concerning the number or adults required to be present with minors under 18 years old.
At least one adult ticket holder must always accompany their children into the lounge.
One adult guardian can accompany up to three minor.
If there are more than three children, an additional ticket holding adult must be present with the group.
Lastly, our cat’s break times have changed. Instead of the cats getting breaks at 12pm and 3pm, they will get one large 2 hour break from 1pm till 3pm!
We will not accept any visitors between these hours and you must wait for the next available session to visit, starting at 3pm.
This larger break time will allow our staff to accomplish tasks such as cleaning, grooming, intake, graduations, and other cat related need within a reasonable time.

Hello again!
We've updated our Amazon wishlist and are requesting donations!
We're in need of several supplies, including litter, cat food, toys, beds, and scratchers.
Here are some of the things we're in need of
Litter Supplies
- Dr. Elsey's cat litter
- Litter Genie Easy Roll Refills
- Disposable Litter Pans
Food Supplies
- Fancy Feast, Friskies, or Churu canned cat food. We will accept most cat food brands but these are the most popular among our cats!
- Food Toppers for our picky eaters. Our cats seem to love the Open Farm Harvest Chicken Blend, but other toppers like Churu Stew works!
Enrichment
- Cat Scratchers; ideally if people can donate the sisal variety, they'll last longer in the lounge and can be disinfected daily whereas cardboard cannot be. There are several in our wishlist we hand picked that we think would be purrfect for the lounge!
- Beds and Hides; as we approach the chilly months, we'd love to get some new bedding for the cats. We think the items we added to our list will both look amazing but also be the coziest for our cats, as well as being easy to wash and disinfect!
- Cat Toys; our cats love variety, so we selected some new toys we'd love to try for them!
Cleaning Supplies
- Rescue; the most important cleaner we use! Rescue is a veterinary grade cleaner that helps keep our cats healthy and we would love if folks could help by donating a gallon and occasionally the wipes too!
- Odo-Ban Laundry Sanitizer; we use sanitizer to keep our laundry fresh and clean and some assistance with this purchase would help a ton since we do laundry frequently!
- Sponges; ok, the sponges don't HAVE to be in the shape of little cats, but it really makes doing all of the dishes more enjoyable (there are so many dishes)
- Lysol Pet Spray; a disinfectant for the room as we enter flu season that is also pet safe!
- Simple Green; an additional disinfectant thats pet safe that we could use on additional surfaces when we dont want to over use Rescue
- Pet House Room Spray, Sandalwood and Vanilla; our purrfered room spray to keep the stink at bay!

Look at this picture and tell me what you see... Perhaps just a cat?
Or maybe even your new best friend?
Meet Rorshach!
This 1 year old cat is here is to assess your emotional and psychological state of mind as you prepare to take home a new furry companion. Instead of reading ink blob patterns, Rorshach would prefer for you to read his body language as you pet him so he can better interpret your vibe. Rorshach is very friendly but can be sensitive about full body pets, so stick to his head for loving. Once you figure that part out, the rest is easy.
Rorshach is a simple guy who loves Churus and nap time and would appreciate another well researched scholar to share his findings with as he learns to settle into house cat life. Rorschach can go to a home with other cats and doesn't mind respectful kids, but we are uncertain about dogs.

Look at this picture and tell me what you see... Perhaps just a cat?
Or maybe even your new best friend?

What better way to kick off Pride Month tomorrow than to introduce the lil legend, Lil’ Poundcake!
Lil’ Poundcake is a soft and snuggly 5 month old love bug who somehow balances angelic cuddle time with pure gremlin chaos.Like the iconic drag race doll, he’s equal parts adorable and unhinged...serving innocent babyface energy one minute and chaotic zoomies the next.
He gives full “the shade, the shade of it all” energy when he’s being sassy, but melts into a purring baby the second he’s picked up.
So adopt this drag star today because he’s already leaving the stage saying “whatever, I’m getting my pocketbook.” 👜💅💕

What a girl wants and needs is more CAT SUPPLIES!
Here are the things we NEED:
We are currently LOW on canned adult cat food and are OUT of clumping clay litter and those two items are the most important that we are asking for at this time. We are also low on laundry detergent and would love to get more to keep things running smoothly.
The things we WANT:
More enrichment for the cats. We would like to install carpet scratching on the floor for cats to sharpen their nails but also roll around in cat nip! It might even be enriching to hide crunchy treats in what is basically faux grass.
We only need a few more of the RizzQi Wall Scratchers to complete the walls of the room!
With more kittens we would also want crinkle balls, as we replace them frequently due to sanitation. We hope you can donate the white ones since they wont leak dye when washed!
And lastly, this is a want but also a need, new wand attachment strings! We have gone through all our back ups and need more.
Thank you again to our lovely community for helping whenever we put out calls for donations 💜

Clay Aiken is right here, waiting for you to take him home!
You might not notice Clay Aiken right away, but we promise he's not invisible, he's right in the top condo! You can request a backstage pass to his condo to say hello, just ask a lounge attendant for the way to your VIP access. Clay loves his fans but isn't keen on sharing with other animals so he needs to be a solo kitty in his forever home - he's playing solitaire with no room for poker playing pups and cats.
At 5 years old, Clay is still young but set in his ways about what he wants - and what he wants is endless affection from people! He is ready to take flight on the wings of love and into the arms of his human family.
Keep an eye out for Clay Aiken when you visit and don't forget to say hello!

A little over a week ago we officially hit 500 adoptions!
Boba Fett, our troublesome but sweet tuxedo, was lucky number 500 and in true Boba Fett fashion did not want to model with his hat - little rebel.
Other adopted kitties include
💙 Marimekko - chronic rhinitis girlie who won't let her stuffy nose stop her from finding love!
💙 Nola - one of our Phillies baseball kitties who I couldn't leave out because her adopters brought her a jersey on her adoption day!
💙 Indica and Sativa - we weren't sure if they were going to be stuck with us for no reason like Hocus and Pocus were but these two loving boys finally found their humans!
💙 Wayne - a literal survivor of FIP who finally can call himself a Get a Gato graduate after his initial arrival in October, medical leave, and return!
💙 Laboon - just went home today with a loving human ready to give him a proper quiet home and keep up with his health needs (urinary food diet).
We really loved so many of these cats and have had a lot with medical needs and we are so happy the community of cat lovers are so ready to welcome these babies into their homes. Its really astounding to see how fast cats find someone at the café despite having things that may deter adopters (pre existing conditions, age, bonded status) and we are so lucky to be a part of their journey.

GRAD POST (orange edition)
Orange you glad these kitties got adopted?
🦇 Lestat is being absolutely adored in his new home like the prince he was meant to be. He is his new adopters pride and joy and we just KNOW he is loving all of the one on one attention.
🌬 Jose was adopted recently by folks who applied for Creamsicle initially, but Jose really convinced them he is just as captivating as his fellow orange. His new family is ready to care for and love him fully despite having asthma since he's the cuddliest guy!
🍦Creamsicle became a popular guy with two folks vying for him attention in the same day but ultimately he was matched with an adopter who also happens to be a librarian with a playful cat the same age as him at home! Creamsicle is an easy going guy who is even easier to love, even if he sometimes does stare at you without blinking.
🍞 Cornbread was our handsome large boy who liked his quiet time and wasn't a fan of large crowds, although he tolerated them. His new family fell in love through his online photo since he looked so "distinguished" and his sass and aversion to crowds really resonated with them so it was a match meant to be! We hope Cornbread is happier now in a quiet home with like-minded folks 💛
Congrats to all of our orange kitties!

Who doesn't love a good Brisket?
This thick hunk of cat is 5 years old and ready to spend the summer as your number one BBQ buddy.
Brisket's coat is as dark as charcoal and smooth like smoke. He loves to give head butts when greeting and will follow you around. When Brisket needs quiet time, he can usually be found napping inside a cozy nook - right now his faborite spot is inside the llama cat hide!
Brisket's foster noted that he is a little sensitive to touch on his hind end, although he seems mostly fine with gentle touches on his body. We have noticed he doesn't love to climb up up, so perhapsa home with less steps/need to jump up would be best!
Brisket is still available for adoption, so if you’re looking for a sweet cat with a big head that likes to be gently handled, he's just the right cut!

The wonderful cats all have pending applications but we wanted to introduce you to them anyways since they're all so sweet! 💙
First up is Jose, who you might remember from the fundraiser we shared for @houseofthecatrescue when he had an asthma attack. Jose has chronic asthma that is maintained by his twice daily inhaler, which he is an extremely good boy for. Other than his asthma, he's an incredibly sweet and playful cat who enjoys the company of people and cats, and absolutely adores kittens!
Next is Nightshade, who still keeps a low profile in the lounge but can now be more easily found sleeping on the cat trees or in one of the cozy knit beds. Nightshade needed some daily TLC, which was given by our amazing volunteer, Mia, who gave her the much needed one on one time to build her confidence. Now Nightshade will hang out quietly among the lounge guests instead of hidden in a shadowy corner. Nightshade loves butt scratches and pats as well as chin scratches. She perks up for cat TV too!
Last is Laboon, our top condo kitty. Although he is allowed to be out among the other cats, he is a bit of a shy guy still and prefers to be greeted from within his condo. Laboon has had urinary crystals in the past that he needed surgery for so he is kept on a special urinary food diet so he needs to eat separately from the other cats. Other that that, he's been a healthy happy boy who purrs loudly like a motor boat when you go to pet him.
Special needs cats are always a little extra special in our hearts and we are so thankful they are so loved by our guests and are anticipating a new loving home 🏡
