ONE YEAR OF GAIL’S GARAGE
I created this account and subsequently posted my first car spotting video exactly one year ago today. My TikTok channel was born sometime last November, but I first pressed “post” on Instagram on December 15, 2024.
And what a whirlwind of a year it’s been. To say that my life has changed dramatically in the last 365 days would be an understatement. I never could’ve imagined that sharing my love for cars on the internet would provide me with an entirely new way of existing in the world — one where I get to create on my own terms every day. Abstractly, that has always been my dream (I love to make things and I’ve embarked on many creative side quests prior to this), but it wasn’t until I applied my creative energy to my uncontrollable obsession with cars that something really clicked for me.
And apparently, it clicked for 70,000 other people in the last year, which absolutely boggles my mind. It’s not lost on me that by posting videos on this app, I’ve been able to experience more in my life than I ever thought would be possible (i.e., if you told me one year ago that I’d find myself in the @f1 paddock at COTA — thank you @fordracing — or that I’d be handed the keys to a @lotuscars Emira for an entire weekend, I would not have believed you). I’ve also made some truly excellent friends (several are pictured here) and had the chance to work with people and brands in the industry that I’ve admired since forever.
In truth, I’m still trying to wrap my head around it all, but what I do know is that I’m tremendously grateful. If you’ve been here since my first car spotting video, or joined the Garage more recently, or even if you just read this whole post, I’d like to extend my warmest car girl THANK YOU.
This is just the start!

I’ve had quite a few “pinch me” moments since I started making car content, but this was a particularly special one. Thanks to @PorscheUSA, I will always get to say that Laguna Seca was the first race track I drove on, and the fact that I got to do it in a 911 — the car that I credit for turning me into a full-blown enthusiast — means so much to me. Attending the new @PorscheTrackExperience as part of their pre-opening event challenged me, thrilled me, and ultimately gave me confidence in my potential as a high-performance driver, and now I can’t wait to get back on track and keep improving the skills I started building at Laguna! #PorschePartner

I’ve had quite a few “pinch me” moments since I started making car content, but this was a particularly special one. Major Gail’s Garage update: I bought a Porsche!!!
I’d like to introduce you to my 2000 986 Boxster, which is both my first project and my first sports car. As of now, it sounds more like an air-cooled 911 (and not in a good way) and it does drive (barely). I will most likely be attempting a Boxster S engine swap on this beauty (from the current 2.7 to.a 3.2, advice welcome!), as well as fixing a lot of the other problems it currently has (the exhaust is falling off, the shifter is wildly tilted, the battery is shot, etc). I also plan to make it look much, much prettier.
I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me, but I’m ecstatic about my new purchase and thrilled to officially be a Porsche owner — which is a lifelong dream of mine, as you probably already suspected.
On that note, I’m incredibly grateful to the now over 100,000 of you (eeeek!!!!!) who have followed along on my journey as an automotive creator thus far. Your support has allowed me to pursue my dream career wholeheartedly, and now, it has enabled me to become a Porsche owner. Thanks a hundred thousand times over!!!
Can’t wait to get working on this thing, and there will be plenty to watch once I get started, so stay tuned.
Love,
Gail
