Full Sail University leaders hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the university’s student housing community, Dream Lofts, the first phase of which is set to open in 2028.
To kick off the ceremony, Full Sail’s Chief of Staff Vernon Rainwater greeted guests with some opening remarks and introduced Full Sail President Garry Jones, who made a memorable entrance riding across the active construction site on an giant earthmoving truck.
“This new student housing community will allow Full Sail students to reside closer than ever to the heart of campus life, which is amazing,” Garry shared. “As we look ahead to the first phase of completion and to future phases that will expand this community even further, we're not just building houses, we're building a vibrant community for generations of students to come.”
Attendees also heard from Ian McCook, co-founder of Terian Group, the development company responsible for making Dream Lofts become a reality. Geoff Rogers, Executive Vice President at Full Sail, also spoke and shared never-before-seen digital renderings of what the space will look like inside.
Dream Lofts will feature a fitness center, resort-style pool, outdoor courtyard, and approximately 180 units with 570 beds in one-to four-bedroom apartment layouts.
“While today is certainly about breaking ground, it's also about the student experience,” Geoff said. “From the layout of each unit to the shared spaces throughout the residential community, this development is built to support how our students live, learn, and create.”
To close out the ceremony, Full Sail leaders and partners donned hard hats, took up shovels, and broke ground on the highly anticipated Dream Lofts.
