We believe nature tells us when life is returning 🌳

Healthy ecosystems sound alive, with birds calling, water moving, the rhythms of a thriving landscape. At Forest Carbon, we listen closely, tracing each frequency as part of nature’s living signature and visualising sound as a sign of ecological return.

As an environmental asset manager, we restore and protect 250,000 hectares of landscapes across Southeast Asia, bringing together science, technology, local community stewardship, and long-term partners to deliver benefits for biodiversity, people, and the planet.

At the center of our work is a holistic vantage, rooted in the true value of nature, with care for ecosystems and communities to thrive together.

🔊 Sound on. Hear how we amplify impact.

The values behind the impact 🌳

Birdsong where there was once silence. Forests recovering. Communities at the heart of restoration.

At Forest Carbon, together, perseverance, excellence and impact guide how we restore ecosystems and protect what matters most.

These values shape our approach on the ground and in the decisions that drive long-term impact.

🔊 Sound on. These are the frequencies of change.

From rubber, livelihoods grow 🌳

Rubber is part of everyday life for many families in Nuaran Hamlet, Kepayang Community Forest. It helps support household needs, children’s education, and daily livelihoods.

Together with @bumiairnusantara, we continue to strengthen this local livelihood, helping improve the value of rubber while keeping forest conservation at the heart of the work.

Because supporting people and protecting forests go hand in hand.

Unlike most cats, this one is not afraid of water 🐈

The flat-headed cat is one of Southeast Asia’s least-seen wild cats, adapted for life near water. Listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, its survival depends on healthy freshwater habitats.

In late 2025, the species was captured again on camera in the Sumatra Merang Peatland Project (SMPP) after not being recorded since 2023.

This Endangered Species Day, we are reminded that protecting wetlands also means protecting the wildlife that depends on them. 🐾

These camera traps just gave us the kind of update we love to see. 👀

At the Sumatra Merang Peatland Project, we recently captured Sunda pangolins, sun bears, langurs, hawk eagles, and forest birds moving through restored peatland habitat.

They are active. Noisy. Full of movement and interaction.

For us, every sighting is a signal that biodiversity is returning and the ecosystem is functioning the way it should.

What are their favorite books? 📚

For children, books can be a doorway to learning. Through stories, they begin to imagine, ask questions, and express what they think.

In Kepayang Village, the library is part of our work with the community around the Sumatra Merang Peatland Project. Through better access to books, the library helps nurture children’s curiosity and strengthen their connection to the place they call home.

Because every book they open can open something in them too.

Many roles, one shared purpose 🌏

Behind every landscape restored, every habitat protected, and every story shared, there are many people contributing in different ways.

Some work close to the forest, others support the work from behind the scenes. Each contribution brings something different, and none of it stands alone.

Restoration and ecosystem protection cannot be carried by one hand. It takes collective effort that is built through connection and collaboration.

Fire prevention starts with real time response.

The moment a hotspot shows up in our project area, it appears instantly on our dashboard.

We use AI monitoring to detect early signs of smoke across the landscape, and at the same time, field teams are notified and respond right away on the ground.

🛰 Satellite data helps us see the bigger picture, so everyone is looking at the same, up to date information.

Teams across different locations stay connected, working toward the same goal, to protect the forest before fires spread.

From 2016 to today, what has changed?

What began with a first visit has grown into a long-term effort across the landscape. Restoration took root. Protection strengthened. Wildlife returned. Communities became part of the process.

From rewetting peatlands to recording threatened species, each step reflects years of work on the ground that carried forward together.

This progress reflects what collective efforts can make possible, for landscapes, communities, and the future. 🌍

Conservation is a collaborative effort. 🌿

It takes people and nature, working together over time.

In Kepayang Community Forest, collaboration shapes how biodiversity is monitored too. Guided by the community, rooted in their knowledge of the forest, and built around the way wildlife moves through the landscape.

It's not just collecting data, but understanding it together.

Built together, for the next generation.

Together with the local community, Forest Carbon helped improve education infrastructure at Kepayang Elementary School, including the renovation of classrooms and the creation of a new library for students.

In Kepayang Village, living alongside the Sumatra Merang Peatland Project, education is part of a bigger picture. When communities are supported, they are better able to care for the landscapes they are part of.

This is how conservation and community development go hand in hand, for today and for future generations 🌱
