“De fil en aiguille” Is my recent mural located in the heart of Montreal’s old garment district
The project started with a photoshoot in my studios with the talented @micaomica . I then stitched together a composition of a fictional character that later became to be known as “Anabel”.
The piece pays homage to the workers, designers, creatives and artists that helped shape this iconic neighborhood into what it is today.
This project was championed by @district_central @ac_genial @yveslarochegallery and @hspropertiesinc

When I was a kid, I would always look out my parents car window and stare at the walls passing us by. I often daydreamed of seeing them covered with my art. Today I get to share with you the first commissioned wall in Lasalle to ever be painted by me. FOCUS- Is the result of a photo research project I undertook while visiting Lasalle earlier this summer. The piece incorporates images of places and people from that photo session that inspired me. The mural’s primary focus is on the character but I also wanted to make your eyes wander through the piece to discover some of the less obvious imagery that I incorporated. I used the ribbon shapes, directional lines, and the natural flow of some of the references to create a sense of rapid movement like a vortex sweeping up all of my ideas into a still snapshot of the moment. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did painting it and reconnecting with my roots.Thank you to everyone who contributed to this project starting with @arr_lasalle and Montréal’s mural program, @kolabmtl, @five8art And kika for assisting me with onsite production and the creation of the mural, cedric for filming the adventure, Stavros, his family and crew. Sometimes you realize a story needs to be told — here’s “Collide” by @fluke.art , created for the inaugural @uplift.fest.jasper . The piece explores what happens when ideas, identities, and visions intersect — when worlds push up against one another — and how from that friction something new emerges.

I’m so grateful to the festival founders and organizers for letting art breathe in Jasper’s streets, and to Fluke and his team for giving us a powerful visual experience. After seeing the vibrant walls at the @edmontonmuralfest this year, I couldn’t let this one go unshared any longer.

I know I’m supposed to be sharing NewYear stuff or a recap of “how awesome my year was” but this was WAY better. I swear that I didn’t stage this. Me and the Mrs walk in on my daughter and son playing in his crib. When asked what they were up to..my daughter replied: “ We’re painting a wall on a lift” lol.
They had Mama’s reading light as a work light, diaper cream as a paint bucket, a plastic hammer for a roller and body oil in a pump bottle for a spray paint can. I died. I guess it is in my blood after all.
Kids truly do observe everything that we do. It’s crazy.

A 13-year-old girl named Alexandria once asked her city if they could help her create a mural to add color to her neighborhood.

They said yes.
They asked me to help.
This is what we made together.

Alexandria was particularly inspired by the abundance of flowers and nature thriving in her city and wanted to showcase that in a place accessible to young people.

Accompanied by Alexandria and a large group of local teenagers, I had the opportunity to pick hundreds of wildflowers and bring them back to my studio. Alexandria and I photographed them, and I then proceeded to stitch the photographs into a mural design. In collaboration with the municipality, we decided to paint this mural on its water filtration facility located next to a local high school. Alex visited during the production and even got her hands dirty herself.

I want to take the time to salute this young girl’s initiative. I, for one, don’t think I would have ever seen something like this through—not at 13, anyway.
And special thank you to the city of @ville_vd for answering the call and bringing her project to life.
I am truly grateful to have been a part of this project.
