The new Core Tackle Dice Rig is the ultimate all-in-one rigging system engineered specifically for dice and urchin-style baits. This new design features a built-in nail weight that sits entirely inside the bait for a perfectly seamless, stealthy presentation. Thanks to its unique spiked weight design, the rig easily penetrates and securely sticks into notoriously tough TPE and ElaZtech style materials. To eliminate the frustration of torn or missing lures, a heavy-duty double wire bait keeper locks your bait down tight all day long. This means you can repeatedly make hard distance casts and battle aggressive fish without ever throwing off or losing your favorite soft plastics.

I've been testing this rig for 8 months now and have not lost a single dice or urchin when casting or fighting a fish. I have caught hundreds of bass on these hooks and feel it’s the best rigging system for dice baits on the market.

It comes in 2 sizes, a Size 1 and 3/0. The Size 1 is perfect for the 17mm Coike, the @yamamoto_fishing Uni, and other smaller dice baits. The 3/0 size was designed specifically around the Fullcast Coike, but also works great on the @hags_baits Prickly Pear and other big dice baits.

The Dice Rig is now Live and available to purchase at Coretackle.com. I would get some soon because I have a feeling they will sell out quickly!!

Deep crankbait season is here! Cranked up a bag with the @bassmafiaod Capo 15R on Grand Lake this week.

May and June are the best months for deep cranking on offshore ledges. These bass were set up on a shallow ledge that topped out in 4-6ft of water and dropped into 30ft. These shallower ledges are great when the bass first move offshore in the post-spawn.

Even though I was cranking in 4-6ft, I was still using a 15ft diving crankbait. I like a bigger bait in the post-spawn when bass are feeding heavily and I also want to grind the crankbait in the rocks and shells to get reaction bites. I do use 20lb monofilament line to make the crankbait run 4-5 feet shallow so it doesn’t dig too much. The Bass Mafia Capo 15 is great at coming through rocks and brush, even in shallower water, making it a great choice when cranking shallow ledges.

The ledge bite is heating up and one of my go-to ledge baits is the @coretackle4/0 3/8oz TUSH in a @hogfarmerbaits 5.5in Spunk Shad.

This has replaced a hair jig for me in May and June and always helps me get a few extra bites out of offshore summer schools. I fish this rig by letting it sink for 5-10 seconds and then hopping my rod 2-3 times. I then let it fall for another 3-5 second and hop it again. You want to keep this rig above the fish and draw them off the bottom. If the fish are in 15ft, try to work the bait in 8-10ft of water.

My favorite thing about this rig is that you don’t need FFS to make it work. I caught 5 solid fish this week with it on Grand Lake without FFS, three of them over 3.5 pounds. It’s a great alternative to a jig head minnow if you don’t want to use Livescope and I find it can work even better in a lot of situations.

A flutter spoon is one of the best ways to get big bass offshore in the post-spawn and summertime.

My go-to is the 6.5in @bassmafiaod /@nicholsluresinc Big Larry spoon for a few unique reasons.

First, the concave shape allows you to cast it much easier into the wind. Second, it falls away from the boat as it sinks, letting you reach pressured fish 90 to 120 feet away. Finally, it backslides when hopped and features premium paint finishes that trigger extra bites.

Here are my top 5 baits for May bass fishing:

1. @bassmafiaod Big Larry Flutter Spoon – I like fishing this around suspended bait balls and on offshore ledges right when those fish pull offshore.
2. @coretackle5/0 3/8oz Ozark Rig + Zoom 10.5" Ol’ Monster – The Ozark rig causes the Ol’ Monster to wobble on the fall, which gets a lot of bites around brush piles and shell beds in May.
3. @strikekinglurecompany 8.0 Squarebill – This is one of the biggest square bills you can buy; if you have big gizzard shad in your lake, you will get a bunch of big bites on offshore rock piles and shell beds.
4. @yamamoto_fishing 5in Fuzzy Senko – A unique twist on the Senko that works great around offshore grass, boat docks, shell, and laydowns—anywhere you fish a traditional Senko.
5. @hogfarmerbaits 5.5in Spunkshad + 4/0 3/8oz Core Tackle TUSH – This is a great offshore bait for when bass first group up; you can fish it like a hair jig to generate really good bites from schools.

Save this list for your next trip to the lake!

Here's a sneaky little SideScan trick that’ll help you find more bass in the post-spawn. When you see shad on the ledge and nothing in the deep water, the fish are active.

When all else fails, the @coretackle Hover Rig delivers! Post-spawn bass fishing can get tough, especially after a front with a north wind. In these conditions, I always have a Hover Rig tied on.

I’ll throw it pretty much anywhere I think I can get a bite: down shallow banks, on steeper bluffs, grass lines, stumps, brush piles, fry balls, shad…

My go-to plastic is this 4.2in @raidjapan_official Super Fish Roller. It has a great action rocking action on a hover rig and has a realistic finish that gets more bass to commit in tough conditions. If you haven’t tried the Hover Rig yet this year, now’s the time!

Why run five batteries when you only need two?

@integratedboatworks gave my old Triton a massive upgrade with @proguidebatteries . We’re running the whole boat—trolling motor, engine, and all electronics—off just two lithiums. If you’re in a smaller boat, this is the best investment you can make to save weight and simplify your day on the water.
