Could this really be the beginning of the end of holiday homes? Increased costs and the crucial planning requirements bill proposed, if granted, really could end this unnecessary crisis for good. Could it?

At last, not yet granted, but at least, at long last, proposed: Planning requirement for Change of Use to turn a dwelling house into a holiday let business. This would already be required to turn a home into another type of business eg hairdressers, shop, yet somehow this one has been (conveniently?) overlooked…. This is the essential step if progress is to be made to solve the spiralling housing crisis, everywhere. #planningregs #changeofuse #airbnbbill #housingcrisis #secondhomes #holidayletbusiness

Spotted in Whitstable in Kent, urgent messages in gentle chalk. While we wouldn’t condone damaging action, I (Camilla) stand by putting this message out gently but clearly again and again and again, as homelessness is increasing daily. Homelessness kills. Winter is approaching. This really is an emergency.
Thank you for sending @frankelhodgson #whitstable #whitstablebeach #whitstabubble #whitstabubblehome #whitstableharbour #homelessness #secondhomes #holidaylet #holidayletsuk

Cath from FNSH on BBC Breakfast this morning- we have seen an extreme lack of political will to introduce adequate policies to drive homes back into first home occupancy and primary residence. It’s time to change that!

Brickwash? In The Sunday Times yesterday: Can A Second Home Be Ethical? So many ways I could respond to that question - all starting with the same word! Yet to hear any convincing arguments for the “yes” answer... What do YOU think? Always glad to see this subject being aired though in the papers - and a picture of our first art-action (credits would’ve been nice but never mind - any airings are most welcome 😊)

Someone said to me that the local community needs the work that the holiday homes bring to the town. But if the local community can no longer live in the town, or even the county, how does that help them? They also said that if you have an income that is not dependent on tourism, you don’t see how essential it is. Which is a fair point, I confess. By the same token though I’d say: if you’re in secure housing you may not realise how essential that is too. We need both: work and housing. If that work is dependent on tourism then the tourism, like any other industry, must be regulated, so that it is sustainable, and supports - rather than replaces - the community. #homelessness #secondhomes #holidayhome #artaction #enginelesssailing #sailinstagram #stivesharbour #ecotourism #housingcrisis #cornwallcoast

Hello everyone, after a long break from art-actions, we will be in St Ives Harbour from midday till 2 on Sunday 30th June, to remind anyone who hasn't yet realised, the effect of unregulated tourism on local communities - and the ripple of that which means that we are all paying more, everywhere, even if we are lucky enough to have a decent home of our own. Please join us and spread the word. Train or bus are the best way into St Ives as parking is always tricky. If you are able to help please get in touch, and hope to see you soon!

Cath getting the banner ready before she speaks on German TV last summer. We're coming to London this weekend, for The Big One: a mass, peaceful, protest supported by over 200 organisations, hosted by Extinction Rebellion. No disruption, no arrests. Just a gently delivered but clear message that change is needed: that the environmental and economic crises are symptoms of our broken system. Cath will be speaking on stage, as will lots of other great speakers. We'll have a big FNSH banner, and lots of stickers to give out. Come and get some, join us on the streets! Look forward to seeing you there ❤️✊❤️✊❤️✊❤️

There's no such thing as an "Eco-Second Home". Every uninhabited "home" displaces a household, thereby requiring another home to be built. Building new homes is costly on the environment: both in carbon emissions, and the use of land which is needed for food-production and rewilding. There is plenty of work for the construction industry: retro-fitting existing homes to be more efficient and equipped for the cost of living crisis - and the climate emergency.

Next weekend (21st - 24th April) join us in London, along with 30+ other social and environmental groups and unions, from NHS Nurses to Greenpeace, gathering to say peacefully but clearly that our system is broken, our environment is becoming uninhabitable, and enough is enough. Generously hosted and brilliantly organised by Extinction Rebellion, this weekend will be a historic event. Join us if you can in Parliament Square. Be present if you mind about these things, or take part from home if you can't attend in person. Thank you ❤️✊❤️✊❤️

Thank you @pat.millet for photo, and to Nicola for taking the helm
