BIMBOS AGAINST CAPITALISM
A documentary. A process. A way of thinking. And a beautiful chapter that just came to a close.
It all started in the summer of 2022, when I stumbled upon a message we’ve all seen in Bucharest: "Bimbos Against Capitalism."
What began as a simple university project turned into something far more meaningful, intricate, and fun than we ever expected.
This project doesn't even scratch the surface of how vital @bimbos_against_capitalism is to Romania, but like all things in cinema (and in life), we have to start somewhere.
A year after completing the project, the reaction came back to us more urgent than ever.
I am forever thankful for Cristina Iacob from @art200.culturaqueer for believing in this film and giving it its first Romanian screening. Then came @lesfilmsdecannesabucarest and the incredible Andrei Tănăsescu, followed by @oneworldromania, Romania’s biggest documentary fest curated by Alexandru Solomon. And finally, gratitude to Bianca Stanea and the team at @beast.iff for helping our voices cross borders, all the way to Portugal
It’s been surreal to share this work with so many strangers and cinephiles; feeling the nerves, the joy, and the learning that comes with putting your film out into the world.
