Aish entered construction wanting to understand how buildings come together, and stayed because she realised the industry has the power to shape the future sustainably.

Beginning her studies in architecture, she transitioned into Construction Management.

“I found that understanding how buildings come together, the mechanics, processes, and systems was far more engaging for me than designing them.”

But it was a university subject focused on environmental impact that shifted her perspective.

“The construction industry has a significant impact on the environment, and there is a real opportunity to reduce waste, lower pollution and use resources more efficiently. I realised I wanted to be part of shaping the environment responsibly.”

That turning point led Aish toward a Master’s in Energy Efficiency & Sustainable Building, and ultimately into her role as Project Coordinator at Figurehead.

Now five months into the role, she’s confidently navigating one of construction’s biggest challenges: coordination.

“Balancing timelines, consultants, contractors and client expectations has shown me that the role is less about having all the answers and more about connecting people, information and decisions effectively.”

Lately at Bradmill: an update from the heritage-inspired community emerging in Yarraville.

Stage 2 is tracking well for September completion, with major structural works now complete and the townhomes really starting to take shape. The façade is being realised, with the external cladding and brickwork wrapping up, and windows being installed.

The design nods to the area’s industrial past, once the site of a textile factory, with sculptural black metal cladding contrasted against warm red brick, while interiors take on a clean, modern finish.
