As culture bearers themselves, they understand the commitment, sacrifices, and dedication it takes to help preserve and carry culture forward.

Baby Dolls, Masking Indians, SAPCs, and musicians.
• All positions of Masking Indian Tribes can sign up
• Masking Indian youth ages 10 and up may sign up
• Only the President of the SAPC can sign up for their division
• You must be present to sign up
• No exceptions

Come out, sign up, and connect with upcoming cultural support opportunities.

Our staff had the opportunity to gain knowledge, wisdom, and memorable moments with @chiefjosephboudreauxjr of the Young Eagles Indian Tribe. Big Chief Joe also shared memorable stories and moments about Big Chief Bo Dollis Sr. and the legacy of culture in New Orleans.

Through storytelling, culture, and lived experience, he shared lessons that can’t be learned from a textbook.

Yesterday was about giving a true icon his flowers while the spirit is high. 🦅✨

We gathered to celebrate Big Chief Monk Boudreaux of the Golden Eagles—a man who has paved the way and left an undeniable mark on our culture. Feed The Second Line was on the ground doing what we do best: pouring into our tradition keepers who give so much of themselves.

Feed The Second Line made sure that culture bearers and community members had a meal during the celebration. Some came straight from work to show their respect, proving that we will always show up for the culture in any way possible. We are here to pour into tradition keepers coming together in unity to celebrate a legend who truly made his mark. ✊🏾🥘

Through Feed the Second Line’s Hiring the Second Line initiative, we are proud to create opportunities that allow culture bearers to be paid for the work they do to keep culture alive.

Today we are highlighting Stacey Thornton, also known as Baby Doll Sunflower, founder of the New Orleans Belle Fleur Baby Dolls and owner of Balloons Beyond Stacey.

Her story is a reminder that hiring culture bearers is bigger than a paycheck. It is about respect, visibility, and making sure the traditions that shape New Orleans continue for future generations.
