⚠️ ARREST MADE IN DEADLY BRONX FIRE: Daniel Santana, 45, has been arrested in connection with a deadly fire on May 6 in the Bronx that killed three people. FDNY Fire Marshals determined the fire at 2592 Third Avenue was intentionally set with gasoline.
Fire Marshals began an extensive investigation following the fire, working in collaboration with the NYPD. Together, they conducted interviews with witnesses, canvassed the area and searched for surveillance video that captured both the fire and the suspect.
“This heinous crime took the lives of three New Yorkers and endangered the lives of our first responders,” FDNY Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore said. “Thanks to the excellent investigative work by our Fire Marshals and our law enforcement partners, this dangerous individual will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
They were there when New York City needed them most. Thirty years later, they’re still serving.
The FDNY on Thursday unveiled its 2026 EMS Week poster, featuring members who have worked in emergency medical care for three decades, spanning the 1996 merger with New York City EMS and the September 11th terrorist attacks.
The members all share the same message: A career in EMS is about service, purpose, and providing lifesaving care.
WATCH: During a Public Information Briefing on May 7, FDNY officials demonstrated the importance of CLOSING THE DOOR behind you in a fire. 🚪
