It's Global Accessibility Awareness Day!
Did you know that Fairfax County Public Library has an entire branch dedicated to increasing the accessibility of library services in our county?
Located in the Fairfax County Government Center, the mission of FCPL’s Access Services branch is to remove barriers in using the library for individuals with disabilities. To do so, the branch offers a wide variety of different services, programs and resources for people who cannot read standard print materials, as well as those who cannot physically visit a branch due to disability, health, illness or frailty.
Additionally ALL of our branches offer resources for visitors with low vision or other print disabilities in the form of two programs available on our public computers:
- JAWS - A screen reader program that reads aloud text and guides navigation for easier computer access.
AND
- ZoomText - A magnifier and reader program that can enlarge, enhance and read aloud everything on a computer screen.
Learn more about these and all of our accessibility services by visiting the link in our bio.

Know a teen looking for opportunities to earn volunteer hours this summer? Have them help out at thelocal library!
