In the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, funk pulses as an expression of desire, survival, and power. Sabrina (@dudasantossd), a young MC with explosive stage presence, dreams of breaking through while facing the weight of her origins and a fraught relationship with her mother.
Made with over 100 funk artists and professionals, in front of and behind the camera. Co-starring @lelle, @mcnemlider and @crazyjeffs
Muritiba is one of the leading voices in contemporary Brazilian cinema. His feature Deserto Particular (Private Desert) was Brazil’s submission for the 2022 Academy Awards, and his work has premiered at Sundance, Venice, and Cannes.
Director Aly Muritiba, second director @sabothati, Duda Santos, and producer @manoelrangel will be present to answer a brief Q&A following the screening.
