A newer student shared that they were struggling with alcoholism as a way to cope with the loss of a loved one. Fortunately they were able to overcome it and looked to jiu jitsu to help fill some of that void.

Many of us find common ground through our struggles and I’m inspired and humbled that our gym is able to play a small part in their growth journey.

It’s crazy to think that after a long day at work we pay to come play fight each other for an hour or two. Then we hug it out and go home to our families. Doesn’t get any better than this 💙

In jiu jitsu we spend most of our time on the ground so wrestling can be nerve-racking due to the unfamiliar distance, higher velocity and explosive movements.

A strong and tight but fluid stance, as well as aligning to your partner’s height and angle can go a long way.

Or, you can pull guard; to each their own 😃
