Congrats to my friends and colleagues Sean Whalen, Rebekah Kennedy, Sheena Whalen and Brandon Davis on their horror film SWIPE being acquired for distribution by @mpxfilms

Sean is a horror icon, and this is his second feature as director following his debut, the horror-comedy-romance CRUST, about a faded tv-star cum laundromat owner whose pile of disgustingly crusty socks come to life, lol.

In addition to Rebekah Kennedy (Traumatika) and Sean, the cast of SWIPE includes Hana Mae Lee (Pitch Perfect), Elaine Hendrix (Parent Trap), Ray Santiago (Meet the Fockers), Dominique Columbus (Road House), Alex Rich (The Patient), Phillip Garcia (Clean Slate) and Bryan Fitzgerald (American Rust). Screenplay by Mark Mardini. Produced by the fantastic foursome previously mentioned and Chris Sergi.

Stranger Things finale in the movie theater! SO GOOD.

Unkie and Monkey had the opportunity to get on stage and dance along with Dick Van Dyke’s family and fan club at a 100th birthday celebration this weekend.

What an extraordinary life @official_dick_van_dyke has lived. He has brought genuine, wholesome joy and wonderful silliness to so many generations, and will continue to be a part of the collective magical memory fabric for generations yet to come.

He is truly an inspiration on living life with a smile and a spring in your step, always making room to let your inner child out to play, sing, dance and laugh for as long as we’re here.

There’s only one, perfect, obvious word to describe his life and legacy.

Say it along with me... iiiiit’s —

I come alive on the dance floor. All of my best human instincts unleashed. A flood of serotonin lifts me up to feel genuinely and deeply, good. My thoughts turn to others within the groove organism, what can I do to ensure they feel as good, if not better than I? See, “Feelgood” was the nickname given to me when I entered the late 90’s rave scene. Yeah, there was a time longer ago than seems real, when thinking possible and feeling good was my whole personality. It was all I wanted for myself and my found family. And I had it, for a brief moment, like lightning in a bottle.

Then, in an ironic twist of fate, just as I was getting going, I lost everything in service of trying to save the very scene which had shown me and countless others, our truest, best selves. The parties left me, then I left the parties, and feeling good began to fade.

I’d end up unconsciously chasing the feelgood from city to city, state to state, trying to fill a need that being on the dance floor, in the groove, moving together as one, once gave me. Family, foe, stranger or lover. I did anything asked of me, even if it were something I could not do. Even if it were to my own detriment. There were pockets of joy and connection that went as fast as they came, replaced by sadness, loneliness and quiet despair. I tried everything and anything I could to find joy again, becoming harder and harder as the Peace, Love, Unity and Respect which had once inspired so many of us seemed to be crumbling alongside democracy.

But I know now that I was simply unable to see the very same things I would proselytize and expound to others again and again — that feeling good was a state of mind all along. And all it took to remind me of that all these years later, was returning to the dance floor, in a dirty downtown LA warehouse, and in a spontaneous moment of old school PLUR, buying a case of water to hand out to all the thirsty, sweaty, lip-chapped, cotton-mouthed strangers standing on a way too long line to buy $5 water so they could get back to those sick fucking beats… which as I write this are calling me back into their arms.

“The music needs you”, they call. And Feelgood must answer.
