Amazing to see Policy of 3 and Frail once again.Hanging out and talking to people, new and old.I am still a misfit and punk/hardcore shows are one of the few places over the last 40+ years where I continuously feel a sense of belonging (though not devoid of awkward moments, self-reflection, doubt and alienation.)

Being a human being isn’t easy.Figuring out who we are and how we belong in this crazy fucked up world is an experience that many of us share. We’re all trying to survive and hopefully thrive.Trying to forge our own identities is a lifelong process.Self-determination.

Vique (Simba) kicked off Frail’s set with the importance of inclusion and I fully support that sentiment.I want to hear from all the misfits.

I know what it is like to be me.I want to know what it is like to be you.A rich tapestry of diverse voices from every kind of human beings is just a more valuable experience. We’re all unique, but at the same time I think we all share a communality of existence that binds us together regardless of our differences. And I think those differences have value. The purpose of art is to share the human experience, and the complexity of our unique perspectives makes for more interesting art.

The Thursday night show at King of the Monsters fest was a lot of fun.Policy of 3 and Frail were awesome, obviously, but I really enjoyed seeing bands I wasn’t familiar with.

Self described as political crusty emo/screamo, Tsujigiri was fun to catch. As someone that regularly listens to a wide variety of hardcore, I fully support mashups.

Stuffed Rabbit was an unexpected joy to see.Aggressive, turbulent hardcore with loud drumming.Kids making noise, having fun, and forging their own musical adventure.Bravo.I will be sure to watch out for My Stuffed Rabbit in the future.

Ebullition will be tabling tomorrow. All the one of a kind Ebullition stuff…

The Policy of 3 LPx2 is available now from Ebullition.Downcast shirts (one sided and two sided variants) coming soon, from the ‘90s screens.

We have been playing benefit shows since the inception of the band. We have always felt that connecting our music and message to causes we support is who we are.The Crucial Times Fest coming up in Spokane is an honor to be a part of. In the words of the promoters: “We wanted to make sure the money went to a local organization that does direct hands on work with the local immigrant and refugee population rather than see the money go elsewhere or to a large national group with high administrative costs.” Thank you @221press for including us in this amazing event. We are proud to be a small part in your efforts. See you soon PNW. @threeoneg @ebullitionrecords

A bunch of stuff.

Toying around with these record totes.I only made two as an experiment.Might make more but I need to find a higher quality bag, or just sell them cheaply.

The Policy of 3 LPx2 is now available for pre-order, and the records will start shipping out on the 25th.Get it from Ebullition or Protagonist Music or Deathwish or in a few days Revelation and sooner or later your local store.

https://ebullitionrecordsmailorder.limitedrun.com/store

This weekend a lot of bands associated with Ebullition will be playing King of The Monsters fest.Portraits of Past, Reversal of Man, Policy of 3, Frail plus a bunch of other cool bands.I am leaving on Thursday and Ebullition will be hawking stuff at the fest.

And then the weekend after, Visions and Downcast playing together in Portland with Wake of Humanity, Take Effect and others.Plus Downcast shows in Seattle and Tacoma.I am looking forward to all these shows.

I am listening to 6 new Downcast songs a lot in the last few days, and new Visions LP coming soon.New Downcast, new Visions, still working on Iconoclast discography. Some surprises coming up as well. Can you smell 30th anniversary in the air?

Finally, I am messing around with mail order to Canada and Europe. The shipping sucks big time.I sent 2 LPs to Spain and it was nearly $40 in shipping.I can send a $2,000 order to the UK for $150 so $40 for 2 LPs is outrageous.

If you are in Europe or Canada or on planet Earth in general and you want to get an Ebullition shirt you can email me and I will get you a quote.I am currently working on orders for people in Poland, Japan, Singapore, Canada and some other destinations.I have to learn the best ways, and figure out the problems.

I don’t know if we will ever take mail orders via our web store to these destinations because I need to ask too many questions to get the process correct, and honestly a large chunk of people that mess up their addresses or do something funky never reply to emails.By having you email me first I can at least know that you are capable of responding to an email. It kind of matters. Most people are great but I get completely ignored at times.

The US pressing of the Policy of 3 double LP is now available for preorder from @protaginc @ebullitionrecords @deathwishinc
Featuring all of the band’s
studio recordings.
Remastered by @phdamage
Pressed on gray recycled vinyl.

Policy of 3 are an American emocore quartet from New Jersey and Philadelphia who helped define the sound of early 90s political post-hardcore and whose 2025 reformation has been met with the kind of joy that only comes when a band truly mattered the first time around.
Their name alone was a statement of intent; inspired by a term referencing the philosophy of a group of 1930s Chinese farmers who nonviolently advocated for peasant power and independence from the wealthy landowning class. Policy of 3 arrived with their politics already embedded in their identity before a single note was played. This was not a band that attached a message onto their music as an afterthought. The message and the music were the same thing from the beginning.
In a moment when post-hardcore was evolving rapidly and in multiple directions at once, Policy of 3 carved out something specific and their own. They blended the raw energy of punk rock with left-wing politics, more varied tempos, and an emo introspection that was authentic and natural. Their sound drew comparisons to fellow Ebullition Records bands Moss Icon and Still Life, and to Hoover — arpeggiated guitars, sung and spoken vocals, the quiet-to-explosive dynamic that defined the best emocore of that era — but with a political directness and intellectual weight that set them apart. Their lyrics confronted social and political injustice head on, but with a contemplative nuance that trusted the listener could meet them halfway. This was not music that shouted slogans – it was music that asked questions and wanted conversations.

Man is the Bastard was always amazing to experience live.

I organized a few shows for them over the years. One of the better ones was Man Is The Bastard, Avail, Struggle, Manumission and Not For The Lack of Trying.

I saw Man Is The Bastard play multiple times in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Goleta. The last time I ever saw them was a house show in Isla vista, CA.It was so much fun, and talking to Wood was always an added bonus.

An amazing band full of interesting people.

One of my favorite memories was listening to MITB go into a long explanation for “Kai Lai.” The explanation basically being while America has a lot of problems it can also be a place of freedom for people coming from even more harsh locations. Don’t take the freedoms we do have for granted. We could lose them if we don’t stand up for them. “Kai Lai” is an instrumental.

This summer Deep Six Records is releasing a new Man Is The Bastard tribute compilation LP called “In Gratitude of Man Is The Bastard” featuring 20 bands doing Man Is The Bastard covers tracks.

The included bands are: MORIBUND PUNISHMENT, STARING CONTEST, SLIGHT SLAPPERS (From Japan), FRACTURED, TASER, TRANSIENT, SUPPRESSION, CAVE, LACK OF INTEREST, TRIAC, COMPLETED EXPOSITION, ESCUELA GRIND, PSYCH OUT, MURMUR, DYSMORFIC, IRON LUNG, HEALER, UGLY, LIFE’S TORMENT, and CHRISTIAN LOVERS.

We are taking pre-orders for this compilation along with pre-orders for the new Human - (dis)Grace LP (one sided with an etching).

https://ebullitionrecordsmailorder.limitedrun.com/categories/deep-six-records

Note that these pre-orders are for July, so if you want anything else either expect a long wait or do them as separate orders!Everything ordered with a pre-order item will hold until everything is available. You have been warned. So all threats to impale me with a Skrewdriver will only result in a chuckle.

We also have tons of different Man Is the Bastard and Bastard Noise releases available for mail order, as well as the first Human LP.

At Midnight on Friday May 15th I will make the 35 Policy of Three double CDs available via our mail order site. (Edit: Eastern Standard Time).

https://ebullitionrecordsmailorder.limitedrun.com/categories/all

Lots of people aren’t going to get them. The band has 39 and we have 38.

Also, the first 25 people that order the Policy of 3 discography LPx2 from us will get a copy of the CD booklet.I have some extra CD booklets, and the booklet is really nice.

I am also considering including a printed copy of the text from the CD that Bull wrote with all the mail order copies. It resonates with me and it is a shame that it isn’t part of the discography LPx2.

As I have said hundreds if not thousands of times, hardcore is a community not a style of music.Policy of Three was one of the great hardcore bands of the early/mid ‘90s.The amazing thing about hardcore is that it isn’t static. It is many different music scenes existing in parallel. The most important thing is the decentralization.Hundreds of thousands of kids all over the world making hardcore music in their own way.Hardcore has always been about change. The notes and chords and musical styles always adapting. The constant was the community, the rebellion, the space for self expression, and the celebration of decentralization.Yes, there have always been and there always will be conservative visions of what hardcore sounds like… thus the one constant since 1983 (when I first started listening to hardcore) is that there is always some stale group of people saying hardcore died.Fuck that shit.

Hardcore is what you make of it.It is a playground.Make noise, have fun, and try to change the world along the way.Hardcore for the hardcore.True till death, indeed.

Kent from @ebullitionrecords recently found a box with 78 of our double CD anthology that they released in 2004. They had the booklets with them but no covers. I just so happened to still have the original silk screen. So like a good 90s punk I bought some good looking paper from @theresourceexchange, then @wellwisher39 and I- @bullgerv printed a limited run of covers! They are all hand numbered with my grandfather’s (!) rubber stamp set. Ebullition will have them for sale soon and we’ll have some at the @kotmrecords fest May 21-23 in Phoenix AZ. We hope to see you there!
