Outtake of my Grandma for my personal project ‘Respect Your Elders’.
It was integral for me to include moments of reflection, allowing for my grandparents to reminisce on their lives. That afternoon we sat down and went through piles of old images, both from London and the Philippines. A reminder why having physical media is so important.
East London, August 2025.

Earlier this month, we said goodbye to my Grandad, Brian Phillips. It only felt right to dedicate my 2025 reflection to him.
Over the past year, I’ve been documenting my grandparents as part of a personal project - a way of immortalising them, spending time together and stepping into their worlds.
1. Grandad & his shed - an extension of him. Full of random bits… but they were his random bits.
2. Grandad in his chair - his spot in the living room, trying to work his phone (my old iPhone 6).
3. Grandad in the park - a gorgeous summer’s day. Nan, Grandad and I walking around, feeding the ducks 🦆
4. Grandad and his catch 🎣 - a glimpse into his own world. This image was used for his funeral. Not its intended purpose, but a memory I’ll cherish forever.
My grandad was no stranger to tenacity, determination, and finding adventure in the everyday. 2025 has been a whirlwind, but it’s reminded me that life is meant to be lived.
Wishing you all a gentle and wonderful 2026 🫂🤍
