It’s been an honour to work alongside my friends at@dopameets to host a series of crochet workshops for young people in Lambeth . My friends @edensepiphanyand @sylkysydare angels and the work they do is essential …. ❤️ … ‘With half of the women having some basic crochet experience and the other half having never touched a crochet hook , we started with the basics. They all picked it up quicker than I could have imagined so we were able to get stuck into creating our own individual pieces and then coming together to create a collaborative piece. The amount we created was testament to how committed and talented the group of women are.Their creativity , patience and perseverance has been amazing to witness

Our collaborative art piece was an opportunity to put all the stitches and skills we had learnt and practice them more , along with learning how to make new motifs and follow written patterns and video tutorials. We wanted to make a collage that was organic and playful. From Rose’s abstract, textured, experimental pieces of fabric , Shalukah’s cutlery motifs and giant Z (an appreciate for Emma , Danny and co’s beautiful lunches), to Yuna’s complicated sun symbol (we are grateful for summer!); from Charmaine’s determination to work on difficult lettering and follow patterns, Rojan’s use of pattern and colour and Lewam’s ode to her Ethiopian heritage we made something that captured our little crochet community.

Working together really built on the relationships we had made and watching everyone help each other , support each other and simply make friends made me so happy. A special shout out to those that learnt so effortlessly and confidently even with English as their second language and London being a new home. I am so proud of and inspired by these South London women and the sisterhood we made.’

Your ultimate summer fairy dress 🦋

Hours of handmade granny squares patched asymmetrically together .

Luckily I’m good at maths and love geometry , because creating these visions gets very technical sometimes.
