Got word recently that a track I recorded hit the Billboard charts last year.

“Liquid Galaxies” by Duke Charelle was featured on Hotline Miami, Vol. 3 (physical version), released on Atlanta-based Amada Records. It reached #22 on the Compilation Albums chart.

This came as some welcome news, adding to a successful run I’ve had with my audio engineering career this year. Ironically, at the time this was actually on the charts, I was picking up the pieces from circumstances that nearly wiped me out. I was inches away from complete ruin, on the verge of losing my studio and more.

I generally keep a low profile about my work. My tendency is to keep my head down and prep the studio for an upcoming recording session, or tweak the latest mastering project to sonic perfection, or crunch numbers to keep the business going, and so on. I guess it’s nice to have something to share once in a while.

Those who have worked with me know my dedication to excellence and thorough approach to getting the sonics just right on every record. I have found that it takes thousands of hours sitting in front of speakers to gain the perception needed to work well in audio, and believe my hearing is now better than it’s ever been.

To the artists who’ve trusted me with their music, I want to say thank you for everything. You all deserve plaques, awards, and all that you define as success in your art.

At this point in my career, the goal is simple: to be a solid, go-to choice for artists seeking quality recording, mixing, and mastering of their records, in the Detroit area and beyond.
