Digging deep into the archive… in 2011 I designed this small publication for Molly Anderson as she graduated from the Master’s course in Design Products at the Royal College of Art. The book documented a collection of about 70 functional objects which were then grouped according to different criteria. There is a foreword by Sam Hecht, and an interview with Clare Page and Harry Richardson of Committee. We photographed everything at the RCA in Kensington and the book sat alongside Molly’s final project. Molly has gone on to the pinnacle of her field, recently being named as Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple.

From 2018. Publication design for the exhibition: Edward Kienholz America My Hometown, held at the Blain|Southern gallery in London. Designed with @tom_baber while at Why Not Associates. It includes essays by @davidanfam & @jakechapwoman and was edited by @c_n_burnett & @rowena_chiu

Back to 2013. The Andrew Project by artist @shaan_syed was the culmination of an anonymous public art intervention carried out between Toronto, Berlin and London, over the course of three years. A beautiful project and resulting book, I loved working on this one with @a.drbhlz and directly with the artist.

Another Wallpaper* project. The identity for its first ever podcast series. Technology editor @titledasfound interviewed six renowned creatives about their relationships with material objects. The identity was built around an amazing series of illustrations by @dominika_lipniewska

Something fresh… at the end of 2023 working with @b.a.m.stagram & @gabriela.sprunt, we launched @theblendjournal - a new print publication by @theweekmagazine… in the words of editor in chief @billprinceinc ‘a digestible take on modern luxury presented in a perfect bound, premium stock,print product’. The first issue included an amazing line up of photographic commissions including @leon.chew @jonasmarguet @bbdestudio @_vickiking & @giuseppetriscari_ ; illustration by @manshenlo & @annabukliewer; fashion from @juliabrenard & @benkschofield ; dream production team of @anya.hassett & @sjordahn & editorial consultation by @felixbischof_ . Custom masthead drawn by type guru @tom_baber

Something more recent... Part 1 of a project for Wallpaper* Bespoke & Glenfiddich. In September 2022 myself, director @hopi_allard & DOP @emileebrahimkelly travelled to @nagami.design in Ávila in Spain to make a film about Glenfiddich's 'Time Re:Imagined' collection of whiskies. We interviewed Nagami founder Manuel Jiménez García to find out about the design and production of the packaging for the super-rare 50 year old malt.

For the second part of the project we travelled to Berlin & then on to Dufftown in the Scottish highlands to visit the Glenfiddich distillery.

Next up… another first project from days at Why Not Associates working with @andy_altmann_studio. The @salford_ladsclub Wall of Names is typographic design + public art + engineering + social history…all in one. It documents the name of every member to have come through the club since it began in 1903 - over 22,000 names - made from 3mm lazer cut mild steel and installed in the club’s archive room. The typeface is a customised version of bureau grotesque - referencing the original membership registration cards. Amazing to watch club members past & present finding their names and the names of their parents & grandparents - generations of local families represented in a single work.

This project won @tokyotdc award for experimental work, and @designweekmag award for environmental design

First of a series looking back through the archive... This was the first project I worked on for @a.drbhlz - back in the day! It is a book celebrating and documenting 30 years of practice for BURO II architects (now known as @b2ai_office) Myself @davidmichaelweller & @sunnyinthepark all had a hand in this one.

A nice project from last year - Form Follows Fiction. Publication design for Buro Ole Scheeren architects to coincide with the exhibition ‘ole scheeren: spaces of life’ at the ZKM Centre for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany. It was bound into all copies of Wallpaper’s January edition, as well as being produced as a stand alone booklet.

Part two of the Freedom Security Privacy project for 5Rights Foundation. We commissioned @oliverjamesjackson and @aestheticsinternet to translate the physical book into a microsite, allowing the content to be easily accessible and navigable online - something that a downloadable PDF almost always falls short on.
