The exhibition A Life in Design presents the work and legacy of Danish architect and industrial designer Knud Holscher (1930–2025), whose contribution forms an integral part of the Danish modern design tradition. In 1971, Holscher developed the first coordinated line of architectural hardware for d line, establishing a design language rooted in clarity, function and material honesty.

At the core of the exhibition is a curated selection drawn from Holscher’s personal archive. Through photographs, prototypes and visual notes - many created by Holscher himself - the exhibition explores a lifetime in design shaped by observation, use and continuity.

Elemental House explores new, simpler ways of building that respect the integrity of each material and minimise long-term maintenance. A mix of softwood joinery, concrete and galvanised steel meets exposed brick, creating a tactile and durable interior that will evolve beautifully over time.

“We made sure to use as few different materials as possible. It was important to us to blend into the context and work with the existing elements of the house,” explains Johan Hybschmann. “All surfaces and fittings were chosen to stay in place indefinitely – to grow with the life of the house.”

I’ve lived here since 2012, and this is the first time I’ve really done something properly with the apartment.

It took a while to figure out what that meant. Not bigger changes, just better ones. Materials that age well, things you actually touch every day, and details that don’t need to shout to be noticed.

That’s also why working with @dline_as felt right. Everything is made in brushed stainless steel, and it’s one of those things you don’t fully understand until you use it. The weight, the texture, the way it sits in the hand — it’s just very precise.

We started with the kitchen, but it quickly made sense to keep it consistent throughout the apartment. Same material, same language, across everything from handles to faucets.

Nearly 63% of our carbon footprint comes from our choice of material. We use stainless steel for its hygiene, durability, and timeless look. But it’s resource intensive to produce. Re-handle is our solution.
