A good friend of mine told me about horseshoe crabs. He told me that they follow the stars and celestial bodies, and live their whole lives moving to where they need to go. When humans remove them from the ocean, they die in captivity in a very short period of time, despite having quite long lifespans. These creatures have existed for millions of years and still continue their great journey through the oceans of the universe, part of something bigger than themselves. I always think of this whenever I see one or hear about one, and it makes me emotional to think about the great journey of a horseshoe crab and the great purpose they serve to the universe by moving through the ocean and following the celestial bodies.
