Blending in with the bluebells! This was SUCH a wonderful afternoon walk. The carpet of blue created on the Forrest floor was mesmerising. I had to stop and play for a moment. It was the first time baby Bodhi heard the Handpan - we think he approves 💛✨🪻

6 things I do as a Handpan player…
1. I’ll always be like ‘shall I bring the Handpan, just incase?
2. I get lost in the music. Sometimes I relax myself so much I forget what I’m playing 😂
3. I practice - a lot, on my own, when nobody’s watching. Sometimes Sassy the dog is watching.
4.I love playing in places with natural reverbs - churches, cathedrals, halls, caves, I’m constantly clicking my fingers to hear what a space sounds like.
5. I absolutely give myself a heart attack everytime I get on a flight with my Handpan. YES BECAUSE PTSD BECAUSE ONCE MY HANDPAN GOT LOST OMG LETS NOT EVEN.
6. I enjoy a whole lotta peace, presence and love playing this lil’ metal ufo ✌🏼

Not always playing the Handpan the “right way up” :)
Turning it over opens up some really interesting percussive sounds.
A bit more earthy, a bit more raw… and something I’ve been enjoying exploring lately.

Welcome to my corner :)
This is the “living room” - a space to live, a space to play.
It’s where I film some bits, make some music, and welcome students in for Handpan lessons too. It's also where I dance with my love 💛
A small room, but one that holds a lot.
Throwback to me, my bedhead hair, and some feathered friends jamming along at Chiswick House Park.

My journey with the handpan started back in 2008 when I met @davideswarup on the streets of Amsterdam ☺️ He was so welcoming and remains a wonderful inspiration. I enjoyed meeting other players, attending gatherings and learning more about the instrument. I finally owned a handpan 10 years later, in 2018! What a ride 🐢 #throwback
It's a little bit windy, but you'll get the idea - this view was stunning! Playing to the sun ☀️
Recently my friend @itmaybemark shared a video of an original song - it'sbeautiful and I really wanted to enjoy a little jam with it.
Here it is! I dig this slightly muted sound to the cajon when using these mallets - worthy of a headphone listen.
Grateful for these moments as I continue to experiment with this type of recording approach. I hope you enjoy it and Mark - I hope you share some more music :)
Leave your thoughts or a 💛 in the comments to encourage more music makers to make beautiful music 🫶🏼

The 'Gu', 'port' or hole located at the bottom shell of the handpan - often tuned relevant to the pan's scale - A place of structural strenght on the pan - it offers a really lovely opportunity for percussive exploration!
