Happy Mother’s Day to Me

Journey before destination.

This path has unraveled me.
Fertility is not a meritocracy.
It does not reward effort with outcome,
nor persistence with progress.

I grew up believing that with enough will, anything was possible.
But this journey—
this aching, humbling, breaking journey—
taught me otherwise.

It taught me that I can do hard things.
That I must do hard things.

Two egg retrievals.
Three transfers.
Countless moments of doubt and heartbreak.
And somehow, against the odds, we are here.

Infertility is cruel.
Pregnancy, relentless.
Birth, wild and primal.

I have learned—
over and over—
to surrender.

To surrender to the unknown,
to what cannot be forced or fixed.
I have written that word—surrender—
every single day for over a year.

Motherhood, too, will be this:
a continuous letting go.

A choosing of grace over control.
Of presence over perfection.
To those still in the waiting,
those aching to become mothers—
I see you.
I carry your ache with mine.
You are not alone.

And if nothing else,
hold this truth close:
You can do hard things.

Yesterday marked my 1 year anniversary of the….”shark bite”

And one year to when I found myself religiously singing this song to myself.

Don’t worry
Every little thing gonna be alright.

What a whirlwind.

So grateful for an amazing surgeon who pulled that off and prevented me from carrying a wound vac at our wedding…and everyone who helped me along the way ❤️

The flesh wound has healed nicely (still sensitive to pressure and feels weird, but that’s okay!) and the mind is a work in progress…but isn’t it always? 😉

Hope you weren’t hungry 😜

Here are 3 points of performance to think about when performing a Single Leg RDL

1. Don’t forget to brace your core! Before you hinge, your core needs to be braced
2. At the bottom your torso and back leg should form a straight line. It is really common to see a “droopy” back leg.
3. HINGE. Your torso and back leg should move at the same time…like a teeter totter!

This is a great exercise to develop your posterior chain (glutes, hammies, lower back…) while working on some balance too!
