Join us tomorrow (Sat, Apr 11) for the symposium “Shifting Weathers – On Image, Climate and the Politics of Seeing” at Villa Heike in Berlin-Lichtenberg!

This full-day program (12 – 5 pm), held in English, explores how weather and climate are shaped, mediated, and contested through visual culture. Bringing together artistic and theoretical perspectives, the symposium examines the circulation of climate images, embodied ecological experience, and the role of AI and media in producing environmental knowledge. Admission is free.

With: Marjolein Oele (Professor of Philosophy of the Humanities, Radboud University Nijmegen), curator and theorist Daphne Dragona, and artists Susanne Kriemann and Luiz Zanotello.

CONVERSATION
Technical, planetary, operational images in the heat of time
Daphne Dragona in conversation with Luiz Zanotello

Daphne Dragona and Luiz Zanotello come together as part of the symposium Shifting Weathers – On Image, Climate and the Politics of Seeing. Dragona examines the ambivalent role of technology in the context of the climate crisis, engaging questions of degrowth in art and culture. Zanotello’s artistic research explores the material ecologies of techno-imagination, tracing intersections of space, language, and environment through post-digital and transmedia approaches. Their conversation considers how weather, time, and image-making intersect within contemporary technical media, as well as the politics of machinic vision and possibilities for artistic appropriation.

Daphne Dragona is a curator, theorist, and writer based in Berlin and Athens. Her work addresses the ambivalent role of technology in the climate crisis and engages questions of degrowth in art and culture. She has presented projects internationally, including at the Onassis Foundation and EMST (Athens), Laboral (Gijón), and Aksioma (Ljubljana). She curated transmediale (2015–2019) and EMAF (2021–2023), and currently teaches at the Ionian University.

Luiz Zanotello is an artist and researcher exploring the material ecologies of techno-imagination. His post-digital practice traces intersections of space, language, and environment through installations and research-based formats. He is a PhD candidate at PhDArts (Leiden University) and has exhibited internationally, including in Zagreb, Vienna, and Venice. He previously served as Assistant Professor for New Media at UdK Berlin.

What changes in an era of possible environmental and computational collapse? How do technological solutions connect to the exhaustion of natural resources? Is it possible for infrastructural and ecological systems to sustain one another, and assist in restoring environmental and social balance?

As part of collapse: data.models.worlds, this panel invites exhibition participants to share their artistic research and methodologies defining their practice.

The panel will explore practices of visualization, mapping, and documentation as critical tools for engaging with infrastructures of data, energy, and ecology. Particular attention will be given to questions of sovereignty, forms of resistance, and the potential for collective imaginaries of viable futures.

The discussion will be held in English.
The exhibition will be open to visitors before the event, 17.00-19.00.

Τι αλλάζει σε μια εποχή ενδεχόμενης περιβαλλοντικής και υπολογιστικής κατάρρευσης; Πώς συνδέονται οι τεχνολογικές λύσεις με την εξάντληση των φυσικών πόρων του πλανήτη; Θα μπορούσαν οι υποδομές και τα οικοσυστήματα να υποστηρίζουν το ένα το άλλο και να συμβάλλουν στην αποκατάσταση της περιβαλλοντικής και κοινωνικής ισορροπίας;

is pleased to announce PCAI ‘s collection artists Latent Community participation at the group exhibition collapse: data.models.worlds. curated by @katerina_gkoutziouli and @daphne_dragona .
The exhibition addresses the intensifying state of crisis shaping the contemporary world, examining the role of technology within it. Drawing on current debates around the possibilities and limitations of technological infrastructures, it explores their entanglement with social and ecological issues, from the past to the present.

On view from March 5 to April 2, 2026, at @saigon_athens

For the exhibition @latentcommunity present the artwork Dark Source: Cloud Extraction.
Cloud Extraction marks the first iteration of the Dark Source, an ongoing critical research project on extractivism, unfolding as a poetic video essay that examines the unseen connections between mineral extraction and data mining.
The research takes place in the lignite villages of Western Macedonia, focusing on the social and economical impacts of the lignite extractive practices, the desertification of the region and their long-term consequences on the land scape and local communities
