Romy potty trained outside because sunshine. I never unpacked my coat. We walked almost every day. Left doors open. Ran around the Rose Bowl. Heard parrots making morning noises. Ate Homestate way too much. And had infinite, sweet, fam time.
And next week we move back to Portland. A big surprise, especially to us. Not because we don’t love California, and not because we had any plans to go back. But - a house popped up directly beside our best friends (hi @nolangrose hi @ellengrose ) and it started as a joke, and then all fell into place too perfectly. An opportunity you only get once - and so we’re going back.

Our second little girl. She’s healthy and beautiful, and we’re grateful.
Today is my last Friday living in Portland. Next week, my little family moves into our new house in Pasadena.
It’s hard to add up the value of these 10 years in Oregon. My entire adult life. How I met Kailey, where Nolan and I started Brother, the first years with Romy.Saying that I’m grateful feels too small.
All of my biggest milestones have happened here. But also, a million perfect little things have happened here. The hundreds of times we’ve been to @porquenotaqueria with friends. The Saturday mornings at Tabor park with the kiddos. Watching every season of Great British Baking Show with Kailey. Working out in Drew’s garage. Dropping Romy off with nanny Kiki. Sitting in the office when it’s raining.
I’ll really miss it. I’ll miss the days when it felt like we had forever together in this place. When it was just a given that we’d see our people on the weekend. That I’d drive into the office and sit beside my best friend every day.

Today is my last Friday living in Portland. Next week, my little family moves into our new house in Pasadena.
It’s hard to add up the value of these 10 years in Oregon. My entire adult life. How I met Kailey, where Nolan and I started Brother, the first years with Romy.Saying that I’m grateful feels too small.
All of my biggest milestones have happened here. But also, a million perfect little things have happened here. The hundreds of times we’ve been to @porquenotaqueria with friends. The Saturday mornings at Tabor park with the kiddos. Watching every season of Great British Baking Show with Kailey. Working out in Drew’s garage. Dropping Romy off with nanny Kiki. Sitting in the office when it’s raining.

You’ve always been fun. And now we have little girl(s), and care about Redfin, and eat at like 5:30. And still - you’re the most fun. Always down for a hike. Or a last minute Coast trip. To just get out of the house and go walk around downtown, or try a new restaurant. Always down to watch a show with me at night, to go to the weird park, to talk about a Europe trip. You were my friend when it was simple, you’re my friend now that it’s a little less simple. And I’ll always love your birthday. HBD 💙
