I have an unspoken goal I set for myself awhile back. I make something - no matter what it is - every day. I work those creative muscles and exercise them hoping they’ll get stronger.

Well, they do. Without adding any pressure, I create whatever it is that comes to mind. I truly believe it’s why I thrive. Whether it’s something someone would consider shit art, which we all know and love, or an oil painting I’ve been working on for months, or a piece of jewelry, woodworking, working on my motorcycle, etc. I stay in constant motion. I have a phobia of stagnation and if I’m still for too long without creative practice and movement, I begin to feel depressed. This practice has saved my life time and time again from my own mental fatigue and anxiety, and it gets me through from one day to another when the world’s pain is almost unbearable to witness.

Creative control is all I have, most of the time anyway - sometimes it’s out of my control and I have to bear it nonetheless - but it’s what I hold onto and what I believe will leave some impression in the future. Whether your art is mixed media, photography, painting, writing, making candles and oils ;) or whatever - literally whatever it is - just do it. There are a million different ways to repurpose what others would consider trash and truly leave a mark on another individual through their own interpretation of what it means to them to experience the beauty that is, and will always be, art.

I am currently in the midst of a project to organize all of my images on all of my external drives from the past two decades onto one larger master drive.It's been fun revisiting old photographs.

This one is from college.It was taken on a 4x5 camera with black and white film.It was lit with one work light, and thankfully the subject was good at staying incredibly still.
